Job Description

A specialized construction and environmental services contractor is seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to lead the company's safety initiatives across active project sites and office operations. This position serves as the primary safety resource for the organization, partnering with project teams, field personnel, and leadership to maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements. This is a highly visible role that combines field presence with office-based program management. The ideal candidate will have a construction safety background, experience conducting training and site audits, and a passion for developing safe work practices across diverse project environments.
Responsibilities:
Lead and support company-wide safety programs, policies, and compliance initiatives Conduct jobsite safety inspections, audits, and environmental reviews Develop, maintain, and update site-specific Health & Safety Plans (HASPs) Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions Deliver safety training, orientations, toolbox talks, and compliance-related programs Partner with project teams to identify hazards and develop practical solutions Maintain safety records, reports, permits, certifications, and compliance documentation Facilitate safety committee meetings and promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization Provide technical safety guidance and support to field personnel and management Monitor regulatory changes and recommend updates to company policies and procedures
Qualifications:
5+ years of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) experience within construction, environmental, industrial, utility, energy, or related industries Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices Experience developing, implementing, and enforcing safety programs and procedures Experience conducting safety training, site audits, inspections, and incident investigations Comfortable working in both office and field environments Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Valid driver's license with a good driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
OSHA 500
certification or ability to obtain OSHA 30 certification First Aid / CPR certification Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, or a related field Bilingual English/Spanish
