Job Description
Wiginton Fire Systems is seeking an experienced Fire Protection Engineer (PE) to help expand and strengthen our presence in the South Florida market. We are looking for a licensed Florida Professional Engineer who wants to help build something long term while working on complex and high-profile fire protection projects across the Southeast and beyond. You will work alongside experienced fire protection professionals while helping shape the future of our engineering division and South Florida presence. What You'll Do Lead and manage fire protection engineering projects from concept through completion Provide engineering and code consulting for fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, BDA/ERCES systems, and special hazard systems Perform building and fire code analysis, egress analysis, fire hazard analysis, and alternative methods evaluations Review, comment on, and seal engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documents Develop performance-based fire protection designs when hazards fall outside prescriptive code requirements Conduct site surveys and technical assessments Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, AHJs, and project stakeholders Support business development initiatives and help grow Wiginton Fire Protection Engineering in the South Florida market Provide technical guidance and mentorship to design and sales teams Stay current with NFPA standards, code changes, and industry advancements Qualifications Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license required, preferably in Fire Protection Engineering or a related discipline Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field from an ABET-accredited university Minimum of 4 years of fire protection engineering experience or related experience as an EIT Strong understanding of NFPA codes and standards, building codes, and life safety systems Experience with fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, and code consulting Experience with hydraulic calculations, fire modeling, and CAD-based design documents preferred Strong communication and client relationship skills Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout South Florida as needed Why Engineers Choose Wiginton 100% employee-owned ESOP company with long-term retirement wealth building potential Opportunity to help shape and grow a developing engineering division rather than being just another number in a large corporate structure Direct involvement in high-profile and technically challenging projects Strong collaboration between engineering, fabrication, operations, inspections, service, and field teams Career growth opportunities into leadership and strategic engineering roles Support for continuing education, licensing, and professional development Opportunity to participate in NFPA involvement, industry engagement, and technical innovation Flexible and entrepreneurial environment where your input directly impacts company growth Established company with nearly 60 years of industry experience and financial stability Access to diverse project types, including industrial, mission-critical, healthcare, commercial, high-rise, and specialty hazard systems Benefits Competitive salary ESOP retirement ownership program 401(k) with company match Medical, dental, and vision insurance Company-paid life insurance Paid time off and paid holidays Continuing education and professional license support Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate Company technology and vehicle allowance options based on role requirements Wiginton Fire Systems Careers Wiginton Fire Systems provides comprehensive fire protection solutions including fire sprinkler systems, fire alarms, inspections, service, special hazards, and
