Role:

Lead the development and continuous improvement of VulcanForms? powder safety program in support of high-volume metal additive manufacturing. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe handling, processing, and storage of reactive metal powders by establishing safety standards, evaluating critical safety systems, and partnering with Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and safety teams to mitigate risk. As the subject matter expert on combustible metal powder hazards, you will help build a scalable safety framework that supports operational excellence and the continued growth of VulcanForms? advanced manufacturing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and improve the powder safety framework
• Create and update procedures, training materials, FMEAs, and Dust Hazard Analyses for titanium and other reactive metal powders
• Specify, evaluate, and qualify third-party safety equipment, including ventilation, filtration, inerting systems, fire suppression, and PPE
• Conduct powder safety audits and identify gaps
• Track corrective actions through completion
• Coordinate with facility safety personnel on site-specific requirements
• Support operational readiness reviews
• Perform hands-on validation and verification activities
• Interpret and apply NFPA 660, Standard for Combustible Metals, and related standards
• Apply safety standards to facility design, equipment procurement, and operating procedures
• Monitor changes to regulatory requirements and industry standards
• Recommend proactive updates to internal policies and procedures
• Interact with third-party safety organizations as needed
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and other cross-functional teams to reduce process safety risks

Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of NFPA 660 and the underlying hazard mechanisms of metal dust fires and explosions
• Experience specifying or evaluating powder-handling equipment, including gloveboxes, powder recovery systems, ventilation, filtration, or inerting systems
• Comfort working in an active production environment
• Ability to interface effectively with Operations and Facilities teams
• Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to perform hands-on validation, verification, and safety assessment activities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with metal additive manufacturing systems, including laser powder bed fusion, binder jetting, or similar technologies
• Hands-on experience handling reactive or combustible metal powders in a manufacturing or research and development environment
• Experience with titanium, aluminum, or similar metal powders
• Familiarity with industrial hygiene sampling and exposure assessment for metal dusts
• Background in a regulated manufacturing environment, such as aerospace, medical devices, or consumer electronics
• Experience developing safety procedures, training programs, FMEAs, or Dust Hazard Analyses
• Familiarity with facility safety systems, combustible dust mitigation, and operational readiness reviews

Compensation:

• Annual base salary: \$137,830 to \$189,510
• Actual compensation depends on skills, qualifications, and experience.
