Job Title:
Fire Sprinkler Designer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Designer with 2-5 years of experience. The role involves designing and developing fire alarm systems for commercial, industrial, and multi-family projects, ensuring compliance with NFPA, IBC, IFC, local AHJ requirements, and project specifications. Responsibilities Prepare detailed fire alarm layouts, riser diagrams, device placement drawings, calculations, and submittal packages, including product data, battery calculations, and sequences of operation. Collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, engineers, and field personnel to ensure accurate system coordination and constructible designs. Review architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings for project integration. Select appropriate fire alarm equipment and support permitting and AHJ approval processes. Respond to plan review comments, implement design revisions, and contribute to design-build and value engineering efforts. Maintain organized project documentation and deliver high-quality, code-compliant fire alarm system designs on time and within project budgets. Essential Skills Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Drafting, or related field. 2-5 years of fire alarm design experience. Strong working knowledge of NFPA codes and local fire alarm requirements. Proficiency in AutoCAD or HydroCAD, and fire protection design software. Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications Revit experience is preferred. NICET certification is preferred. Work Environment The position is based in an office environment located in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
