Compensation for this position is $85,000-$100,000 plus an estimated additional ROA annual compensation based on division performance. The Safety and Health Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving safety programs, systems, and equipment that promote a safe and healthy work environment for all teammates, contractors, and visitors. This position serves as a technical safety resource, project manager, and coach, partnering with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to proactively identify hazards, reduce risk, prevent injuries, and ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements. The Safety Engineer leads safety and continuous improvement initiatives, provides technical guidance, and supports the development of sustainable processes that strengthen Nucor's culture of safety excellence and protect teammates. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in related field, or 4 years of industrial work, or 2 years of safety work experience, or a combination of thereof.Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Safety Management Systems and standards in the steel manufacturing environment
- OSHA 30-hour training
- Certified to conduct OSHA training
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Training and/or experience with industrial hygiene.
- Project management experience.
