Job Description

The Senior Specialist is responsible for providing Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) support so that work activities, including construction, operation, maintenance and retirement of our energy systems, are conducted safely and in a manner that complies with all federal, state and local regulations in addition to company procedures and protocols. This role works closely with operations personnel to support the companys commitment to Environmental, Health and Safety Excellence. It leads initiatives that promote a zero-harm culture and ensure full compliance with all applicable standards and regulations. This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a

Required Education/Experience Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant work experience or Associate's Degree and 4 years of relevant work experience or High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of relevant work experience Preferred Education/Experience Bachelor's Degree and experience within the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) discipline or in roles focused on electric distribution systems Associate's Degree and experience within the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) discipline or in roles focused on electric distribution systems High School Diploma/GED and experience within the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) discipline or in roles focused on electric distribution systems Relevant Work Experience Strong leadership skills, ability to initiate and champion change, and influence others to improve work practices/processes, required. Demonstrated proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and/or ability to quickly become proficient with database packages including Microsoft Office and SHIMS, required. Ability to effectively interact with various levels of personnel, required. Strong team player and ability to obtain results, required. Ability to effectively engage with customers, support staff, regulatory agencies and all levels of management, required. Experience in safety and environmental incident response, preferred. Ability to develop concepts into successful safety and environmental programs, preferred. Skills and Abilities Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc. Effective interpersonal skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities Licenses and Certifications Driver's License Required Physical Demands Ability to respond to system emergencies Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold Perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off-road conditions Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator, without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations Stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for the duration of the workday Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies Additional Physical Demands The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Core Responsibilities Implement and support Company EH&S programs to ensure safety and environmental protection. Foster a culture of teamwork, honesty, and openness on EH&S issues. Perform EH&S incident analysis and collaborate with Operating Groups. Improve safety culture and compliance with managers and field crews. Conduct and document Job Site Safety Exchanges and assessments. Assist in investigations, spill reporting, and emergency response. Promote teamwork with union safety teams and committees. Communicate EH&S information at meetings and in the field. Implement strategies to protect workers and the public from hazards. Facilitate EH&S training sessions and coordinate response to environmental incidents.
