Job Description

Providing fire engineering for fire suppression system engineering and design, fire alarm system engineering and design. Supporting code analysis, hydraulic calculations and fire modeling. Facilitating and attending pha reviews for process safety as well as team meetings and will be doing site surveys and attending project meetings on site. Supporting fire hazards assessments that help determining fire water demands and structural fire proofing requirements. Providing engineering and design support for gas detection systems. Code analysis and performance based alternative design. Special hazards, fire protection, fire detection, and fire alarm designs. 3D CFD fire and air flow model software (FDS and PYROSIM). Dispersion and consequence modeling software (PHAST). KY pipe, PHA work, PHA pro and elite fire hydraulic calculation software. Explosion venting calculations and process hazard analysis facilitation. Telecommuting is allowed.
TRAVEL:
20% domestic travel for site survey and client meetings.
LI-DNI REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a Master degree or foreign equivalent in Fire Protection, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field. In Lieu of the requirements listed above, employer will accept: a Bachelor degree or foreign equivalent in Fire Protection, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field and 3 years of work experience in job offered or related Fire Protection Engineer occupation.
SPECIFIC SKILLS
Expertise/ knowledge of: Hydraulic calculations. Sprinklers and Fire Alarm device spacing requirements. Smoke Ventilation Calculations. Computational Fluid Dynamics (FDS) and Egress Modeling.
