Process Safety Management Specialist Fort Wayne, IN 46818 Hybrid work Full-time Full-time About the Company Wagner-Meinert (WMI) is an industrial refrigeration, food process, and mechanical contracting company headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana with expanding branch operations, which presently include Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Florida. Specializing in industrial ammonia refrigeration systems requires an extensive amount of experience and technical education. WMI has developed a high degree of customer loyalty due to its ability to provide the "personal service" required to meet the comprehensive needs of its clients. Job Summary We are seeking a process safety management (PSM) specialist to join our team, and the individual in this role will serve customers throughout Northern and Central Indiana. The PSM specialist will provide technical process safety engineering support services to WMI and customers. The person will support our responsibility for designing, constructing, and operating safe chemical production processes throughout the process lifecycle. The individual will directly support PSM programs and specific element implementation, PSM/RMP compliance, and/or auditing functions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) Draft and review standard operating procedures (SOPs) Ensure facility safety through compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) Champion and lead PSM programs Conduct internal PSM program audits and reviews Support PSM processes such as process hazard analysis (PHA), management of change (MOC), mechanical integrity inspections (MIIs), and incident investigations Establish goals for PSM programs and ammonia system improvements Direct plants' monthly PSM meetings Determine and evaluate process hazards from process deviations Provide technical safety prevention and protection concepts and solutions for production plants Cooperate closely with customer relations, process technology, and engineering Qualifications Understanding of the refrigeration lifecycle Ability to read and understand P&IDs Associate in engineering, process technology, occupational health and safety, or equivalent work experience Knowledge and experience in general industry safety regulations Knowledge of relevant local regulations and industry standards Strong analytical skills, systematic and structured way of working Strong team and communication skills Initiative, sense of responsibility, and flexibility Ability to lead teams through the 14 supporting strategies of PSM or ability to shadow and learn Ability to travel to customer sites
