Job Description
The role of Plant Environmental Engineer oversees the Plant's Environmental programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role acts as the primary catalyst for needed updates and changes as well as a repository of the plant's historical, current and future environmental data.
Essential Functions:
Communication, Training & Management Provide leadership for the implementation of TCCB environmental (air, water, solid waste, etc.) programs at the plant level. Work with Plant Management and Corporate EHS to ensure that all Pollution Control Equipment is operated and maintained to ensure Air Quality compliance Act as a communication liaison between the plant and all regulatory agencies as well as the general public. Manage and conduct training sessions to Plant Management and Plant Personnel for Environmental programs. Respond and provide assistance to all Plant emergency situations. Attend conferences, meetings, and workshops to keep up-to-date skills and knowledge and maintain required certifications. Work closely with Corporate EHS Department on all Environmental issues, including submitting reports by their deadlines.Auditing & Compliance:
Ensure the plant is in compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Local Environmental regulations. Conduct and assist Corporate EHS Department in internal audits and assessments of Plant's Environmental programs. Monitor professional literature and attend seminars to stay current with governmental compliance requirements. Review, understand and lead efforts forISO 14001
certification and ongoing requirements. Track and manage emission spreadsheet and other permit-related functions to ensure that plant is in compliance with air quality permits. Perform routine opacity observations on stacks as needed. Report upset events to the STEER system when necessary. Manage the stormwater pollution prevention program and plan, and perform required tasks outlined in the plan, such as collecting and analyzing the stormwater runoff on a quarterly basis. Identify, track, and manage all solid wastes generated and leaving the plant. Manage the continuous emission monitoring system (CEMS) to ensure that it is reliable and meeting all permits and regulatory requirements. Risk Assessment & Document Control Evaluate hazards within the facilities for environmental risks. Maintain and develop filing systems, both electronic and hard copies, for all documents and records for Plant's Environmental Manage the reporting and the investigation of all environmental incidents, including near misses, and ensure that corrective actions are taken if needed. Apply basic engineering concepts to identify, discern and implement environmentally compliant solutions. Additional Duties Perform additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the Plant Manager Manage and maintain all department ISO responsibilities Assist Plant Safety Coordinator in the various administrative EH&S tasks, such as writing safety programs and procedures where applicable to the environmental program Regular attendance is requiredQualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in environmental engineering or related fields 2-3 years of professional Environmental experience in a manufacturing environment Exemplary oral and verbal communication skills 2-3 years of progressive leadership in a manufacturing environment Strong analytical and program evaluation skills 2-3 years of individual and group training experience Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Word) Ability to define and solve technical problems Ability to manage multiple projects Ability to work effectively and efficiently in team environment Must be able to complete tasks with little or no supervisionPreferred Education and Experience:
