At Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), located in Richland, Washington, we are working to provide a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area through the protection of the Columbia River and the remediation of the Central Plateau. A Qualified Fire Protection Engineer may perform, but is not limited to, the following:- Implement the CPCCo Fire Protection Program (FPP) through inspections, assessments, design and technical document reviews, and effective communication of fire protection controls and objectives to project personnel.
- Develop, review, maintain, and implement fire protection documents such as Fire Hazards Analysis and Facility Fire Protection Assessments.
- Support the CPCCo FPP by performing programmatic assessments, identifying and implementing improvements, and periodic procedure reviews.
- Processes requests for exemptions, variances, deviations, or equivalency evaluations from fire protection standards and requirements.
- Support CPCCo safety culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect workers, property, the public, and the environment.
- Provide fire protection system maintenance oversight and reviews. Basic Qualifications
- Intermediate Level Grade 16: Bachelor's degree in engineering or scientific discipline with 2 or more years of relevant experience.
- Intermediate Level Grade 17: Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific discipline with 4 or more years of relevant experience.
- Career Level Grade 18: Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific discipline with 6 or more years of relevant experience. The higher posted level has greater scope, complexity, authority, impact. The level offered to the selected candidate will be based on the needs of the company and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience. Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with International Building Code, NFPA, Federal and state occupational safety and health requirements that impact facility safety and equipment design.
- Meets the qualifications for Professional Member Grade in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers OR has a Professional Member grade in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers OR is a Registered Professional Fire Protection Engineer.
- Proven strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective communication and time-management skills.
- Current appointment as Hanford Deputy Fire Marshal, or similar AHJ experience.
- 2 years' experience performing Fire Protection Engineering duties at any DOE Complex, DOE National Laboratory, or commercial nuclear power plant.
- Understanding of and demonstrated previous application of DOE Orders/Standards.
- 1 year of relevant nuclear experience.
Salary Range:
- Intermediate Level Grade 16: $81,500
- $125,250.
- Intermediate Level Grade 17: $86,200
- $137,650.
- Career Level Grade 18: $94,750
- $151,800.
- A casual-dress work environment, where jeans are a regular thing.
- A standard 4-10's work schedule that allows for long weekends and recharging on the Columbia River, on a golf course, at 200+ surrounding wineries, or at other Pacific Northwest destinations where fishing, hunting, snowboarding, hiking, and other outdoor sporting opportunities are in abundance.
