Duration:
12 Months Contract Job Overview We are seeking a Fire Protection Design Engineer to support the design and engineering of fire protection systems for clients Data Centers. The engineer will design and review fire suppression and fire alarm/detection systems, ensure building and fire code compliance, and coordinate with design vendors, construction teams, and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire protection engineering or mechanical engineering, along with experience working in construction or design engineering environments. This role requires a self-starter who can work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. Key Responsibilities (Working under a Senior Fire Protection Engineer) Collaborate with third-party design vendors and internal teams to review fire protection system designs. Ensure designs comply with owner standards, building codes, and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements. Coordinate fire protection design with other engineering disciplines. Support construction, commissioning, and risk management teams with technical questions and RFIs. Develop and review construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and system designs. Conduct water supply evaluations and fire protection assessments. Attend meetings with AHJs (fire marshals, inspectors, code officials). Review fire suppression and fire alarm system submittals, including: Shop drawings Calculations Product data Respond to RFIs (Requests for Information). Maintain and update internal fire protection design templates and standards. Required Qualifications Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection Engineering. 5+ years of experience in: Fire protection design engineering Construction industry related to fire protection systems Experience designing or supporting: Fire suppression systems Fire alarm and detection systems Fire-resistive construction Experience applying industry codes and standards including: NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) ICC (International Code Council) Local building and fire codes Experience with lithium-ion battery storage and energy storage fire safety compliance.
Experience with:
Design reviews Specifications Design standards development Submittal reviews Familiarity with construction documentation (drawings, diagrams, specifications). Strong communication and technical documentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting projects such as: Data centers Critical medical facilities Industrial plants Oil & gas facilities Large mechanical or power systems Experience with: Code Modification Requests (CMRs) Alternate Materials and Methods (AMM) proposals Experience working with fire marshals, fire inspectors, or code authorities. Experience with fire protection design software such as: Revit AutoCAD Fire Dynamic Simulation SprinkCALC AutoSPRINK Top 3 Must-Have Skills Fire building code consulting experience Fire protection system design experience Lithium-ion battery / energy storage fire protection experience
