Industrial Engineer (Contract) Carlsbad, CA | Full-time contract, on-site, 1st shift | $90,000 - $100,000 annualized (6-12 month contract) NEOTech is hiring a contract Industrial Engineer for our Carlsbad, California electronics manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on production-floor role: you will own the time studies, capacity math, layouts, standard work, and line balancing that determine how efficiently the plant runs, and you will see the results of your changes on the floor the same week you make them. It suits an engineer with a few years in electronics or contract manufacturing who wants direct ownership of a facility's flow rather than a slice of a larger project. What you will do Conduct time studies and document standard cycle times for manufacturing operations. Perform capacity analysis for production lines, work centers, and critical equipment; support headcount calculations. Develop and maintain standard work instructions, labor standards, routing sheets, and process maps. Create, update, and optimize production floor layouts using CAD or layout software; coordinate and validate layout changes. Analyze workflow and material flow to identify bottlenecks and eliminate waste. Support line balancing and staffing optimization based on takt time and production demand. Collect, validate, and analyze production data; track and report OEE, labor utilization, cycle time, and throughput. Lead and participate in Lean and continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and visual management. Work with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to improve manufacturing efficiency.
Support new product introductions:
document processes, estimate labor requirements, and validate production readiness. Conduct root cause analysis for production inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions. Assist with ergonomic assessments and workstation improvements to improve safety and productivity. What you bring Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or Math from a four-year college or university. 2+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 1-3 years in the electronics or contract manufacturing industry preferred. Formal training in Lean methodologies. Working familiarity with standard work, cycle time, work instruction documentation, capacity calculations and analysis, line balancing, and manufacturing layouts. Preferred Experience implementing or working within an MES (Manufacturing Execution System). Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies. Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel (pivot tables, charts, formulas, data analysis). AutoCAD or similar software for plant layouts. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; clear communication with operators, supervisors, and cross-functional teams. Comfortable integrating into a high-tenure group; able to coach and mentor peers. Due to ITAR and / or CUI compliance, this position requires candidates to be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident. Compensation $90,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience. This is a full-time contract position, 1st shift, on-site in Carlsbad, CA. 6-12 month contract with benefits in accordance with California law.
