Job Summary

DPP is seeking a Tool Engineer II for an opportunity with our client in the Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing industry.

Work location: Onsite in El Segundo, CA

Duration:

12 months

Terms:

W2 Contract

Work authorization: US Citizen; must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance

Position Summary:

The Tool Engineer II will support the Tooling department.

As a member of the Offsite Fabrication department, you'll get to work directly with our sub tier suppliers to manage the fabrication of tools.

Oversee the end-to-end design, procurement, fabrication, and commissioning of specialized tooling at our sub tier suppliers.

In this role you will act as the primary technical liaison between our internal engineering teams and manufacturing partners.

You will author comprehensive Statements of Work (SOWs), evaluate sub tier supplier capabilities and drive hands on manufacturing execution to ensure composite and metallic tools are built to rigorous aerospace and industrial specification on schedule and budget.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with program management, engineering, subcontracts/procurement functional management and supplier management teams to ensure that all procurements meet or exceed the requirements of external and internal customers.

Define the Supplier statement of work with the scope of contract requirements, policies, processes, and supplier quality requirements.

Support the maintenance of the approved supplier list within the Tooling Suppliers and periodically review supplier performance to determine whether suppliers should remain on the approved list.

Manage supplier requests for waivers, deviations and discrepancy reporting process through tool deviation requests and QA processes.

Evaluate supplier-non-conformances, negative performance trends and failures and determine root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Manage source inspection processes and coordinate with customers as required.

Verify that End Item Data Packages within QTIS are complete and manufacturing CoCs are reviewed prior to shipment.

Utilize supplier performance databases and supplier quality management system assessment tools to provide objective evidence of supplier's capability to perform.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, aerospace or related field.

Experience in manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of GD&T.

Technical documentation and writing.

Knowledge of Microsoft software suite such as excel and power point.

3D CAD experience.

Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree in Engineering field, Composites experience.

Supplier Audit assessment experience, Root Cause and Analysis training or Lean Manufacturing experience or certification.
