What to Expect The Production Control Process Engineer is a critical role within Tesla's manufacturing ecosystem, responsible for bridging the gap between operational execution and strategic process improvement. This individual will serve as the analytical backbone of the Production Control team - driving efficiency, reducing cost, and ensuring that material flow, inventory systems, and production processes operate at peak performance.
This is not a passive role. We are looking for a self-driven engineer who is equally comfortable on the factory floor analyzing a material flow problem as they are in a conference room presenting data-driven recommendations to senior leadership. You will own projects end-to-end, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and deliver measurable results that directly impact Tesla's ability to producevehicles atscale. What You'll Do Analyze current Production Control workflows, material handling systems, and inventory processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and cost driverss Develop and execute structured improvement projects using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste, improve throughput, and optimize capacity Conduct time and motion studies, value stream mapping, and process audits to establish performance baselines and track improvement progress Develop and manage Plan for Every Part (PFEP) documentation in collaboration with Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams Support the design and implementation of new production control processes for new model launches, line reconfigurations, and capacity expansions Build and maintain advanced analytical tools, dashboards, and reporting frameworks using Excel, SQL, Tableau, or Python to provide real-time visibility into Production Control performance Partner closely with Production, Operations, Quality, Finance, Supply Chain, Demand Planning, and Production Planning teams to align process improvement initiatives with broader business objectives What You'll Bring Degree in Engineering discipline, Engineering management, orequivalent experience 5 years of hands-on experiences in manufacturing environment is preferred Outstanding critical thinking and communication skills, with a very high level of emotional intelligence, autonomy, and servant leadership Innate ability to fully comprehend new processes and systems quickly, with high attention to detail Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable process improvements in a high-volume manufacturing setting Experience in industrial cost control, reporting, and financial analysis within a production environment Advanced-level MS Office skills (primarily Excel and Visio) Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $86,400 - $156,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
