This role translates engineering concepts into production‑ready solutions through advanced CAD design, fabrication of jigs and fixtures, technical documentation, and process optimization. The position partners closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, and Operations to ensure products meet customer requirements, quality standards, cost objectives, and production timelines. The Engineering Technician exercises sound technical judgment, leads problem‑solving efforts, and contributes directly to continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. Responsibilities Serve as the technical owner for assigned products or projects, supporting development from concept through production release. Create, review, and maintain detailed part, assembly, and fixture models and drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred). Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure proper fit, function, and manufacturability. Design, fabricate, and validate jigs, fixtures, and tooling to improve safety, efficiency, quality, and repeatability. Evaluate designs for manufacturability (DFM/DFA) and recommend design or process improvements. Lead technical troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for prototype and production issues; implement corrective actions. Develop and control engineering documentation, including work instructions, specifications, and visual aids. Ensure accuracy and integrity of engineering and production data within the ERP system (Epicor). Collaborate cross‑functionally with Engineering, Sales, Production, and Management to align technical solutions with customer and business needs. Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that reduce cost, waste, and production time. Participate in project planning, scheduling, and status updates within the Engineering team. Provide technical guidance and informal mentoring to junior technicians or production personnel. Maintain shared workspaces, equipment, and tools to company standards. Support peak workload demands, including extended hours when required to meet project deadlines. Education & Qualifications Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field required (Bachelor's degree a plus), or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or product development environment. Demonstrated experience working independently on complex technical projects. Strong background in fabrication, machining, or industrial manufacturing processes (textiles or sewn products preferred). Technical Skills & Competencies Advanced proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred). Working knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards. Strong understanding of mechanical systems and how design influences function, quality, and manufacturability. Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation and production instructions. Familiarity with ERP systems and data accuracy best practices. Proficient in the use of computers and standard engineering software tools.
