Job Description

Senior Distribution Systems Engineers to help support our ongoing BIM contract. This position is on site at Joint Base Pearl Harbour Hickam, Hawaii and will require candidate to reside in the Honolulu area for daily onsite project support. No travel pay is associated with this position.
Security Clearance Level:
Ability to secure Secret Level Clearance.
JOB DESCRIPTION
: Provides solutions to problems and guidance to less experienced field engineers. Provides guidance on different types of equipment and infrastructure maintenance. Provides guidance and installs more advanced or new technologies based on the needs of the customer/client. Provides guidance for assessing if equipment and systems meet compliance standards. Provides guidance, reports findings and provides solutions for any issues that halt progression. Provides recommendations and solutions resulting from equipment assessments and checkups. Provides training to internal and external groups on product features and specifications. Strengthens and builds client relationships by improving interaction with products. May coach and review the work of less experienced professionals.
Other Responsibilities:
Provides solutions to problems and guidance to less experienced field engineers. Provides guidance on different types of equipment and infrastructure maintenance. Provides guidance and installs more advanced or new technologies based on the needs of the customer/client. Support and conduct end-to-end testing of fiber optic cables using OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer), power meters, and other tools. Provides guidance, reports findings and solutions for any issues that halt progression. Provides recommendations and solutions resulting from equipment assessments and checkups. Provides training to internal and external groups on product features and specifications. Strengthens and builds client relationships by improving interaction with products. Review the work of less experienced team members. Review other team members' work and coach issues for accurate production submissions. Communicate with team members on daily basis supporting project timelines and goals. Execution
  • Coordinate with Government Points of Contact (POCs) to coordinate design, installation, base access, clearance, escorts, personnel and equipment to ensure project tasks can be completed on time. Stakeholder Communications
  • assist the PM with ensuring clear, consistent, timely and accurate communications are maintained with internal and external project stakeholders. Technical support
  • provide input into the distribution systems design (ISP/OSP) and technical recommendations to the program and operation teams. Leadership
  • Lead small implementation teams or manage specific work scopes for a given site location.
Other Responsibilities:
Provides technical, administrative, and operational management of assigned projects. Develops technical project plans, proposals, reports, and task order and administrative reporting. Perform detailed technical services on assigned tasks. Conducts planning and provides recommendations on task workload. Update network as-built documentation and records based on splicing and testing results. Attends customer meetings and serves as primary network engineering liaison. Interacts with vendors, other agencies, and other client staff. Coordinates development of deliverables and products. Ensures quality assurance of project deliverables. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned. Participates in special projects as required. Reviews project requirements and develop strategies for future work.

EXPERIENCE
: 5+ years' experience in DS Engineering, ideally in DOW environment on IT upgrade projects. Strong working knowledge of distribution systems (ISP/OSP) design and Implementation documents such as
  • Design documentation, As-built diagrams, rack elevations and circuit connectivity matrices.
Familiar with all aspects of fiber testing. Thorough understanding of Wired and General IT functions. Experience using MS Visio desirable. BICSI related certifications are desirable.
