Job Description

About the Role Are you the person who looks at a manufacturing process and thinks, "There has to be a better way to do this?" Bazooka Farmstar is looking for a hands-on Operations Technician to help us improve how we build our products. This is a highly visible, hands-on role working directly with our production teams to make processes safer, more efficient, more consistent, and easier to perform. The ideal candidate has strong experience working in a manufacturing environment—particularly metal fabrication, welding, machining, painting, or assembly—and has a natural ability to identify problems and find practical solutions. This is not a desk-only continuous improvement position. You will spend significant time on the production floor working alongside employees, evaluating processes, testing improvements, helping develop fixtures and tooling, and implementing better ways of doing the work. What You'll Do Walk the production floor and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, workflow, and employee productivity. Work directly with employees and production leadership to understand problems and develop practical solutions. Improve processes across fabrication, CNC, welding, paint, and assembly operations. Help implement Lean Manufacturing and 5S practices throughout the production areas. Identify and reduce wasted motion, material handling, downtime, rework, bottlenecks, and other sources of waste. Develop and improve standard work instructions and processes. Work with Engineering and production teams to develop or improve fixtures, tooling, workstations, and processes . Research tooling, equipment, and other solutions that may improve manufacturing processes. Assist with time studies and other methods of evaluating process efficiency. Help troubleshoot manufacturing problems and determine practical root causes and solutions. Work with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Production to implement improvements. Help test new processes and ensure improvements are successfully implemented on the production floor. Assist with training employees on new processes, tools, fixtures, and standard work. Document improvements and help track results. Support a culture where employees are encouraged to identify problems and suggest better ways to work. What We're Looking For The most important thing is hands-on manufacturing experience and the ability to improve how work gets done. We're looking for someone who: Has several years of experience working in a manufacturing environment . Understands how products move through manufacturing and the challenges associated with fabrication, welding, machining/CNC, paint, and assembly. Has experience identifying problems and implementing process improvements . Has knowledge or experience with 5S, Lean Manufacturing, or similar improvement practices . Has strong mechanical aptitude and enjoys working with tools, equipment, fixtures, and processes. Can read and understand basic manufacturing drawings, prints, or work instructions. Is comfortable working directly with production employees and getting hands-on to solve problems. Can communicate effectively with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance. Has basic computer skills and can create or update documents, standard work, and other process information. Preferred Experience The following would be a plus, but are not required : Experience in metal fabrication or manufacturing of steel structures. Welding experience or a strong understanding of welding processes. CNC or machining experience. Experience working in paint or finishing operations. Experience developing or improving fixtures, tooling, or workstations. Experience working with Manufacturing or Industrial Engineers. Experience using CAD software or interpreting CAD drawings. Experience conducting time studies or other productivity measurements. Experience with Lean, Kaizen, root cause analysis, or other continuous improvement methods. Experience working in a high-mix manufacturing environment. What Will Make You Successful We're looking for someone who is: Hands-on
  • You'd rather be on the production floor than behind a desk all day. A problem solver
  • You naturally look for the root cause instead of just fixing the immediate problem. Practical
  • You understand that the best solution is one that actually works for the people doing the job. Curious
  • You're willing to research tools, equipment, and new ways of doing things. Collaborative
  • You can work with operators, supervisors, engineers, and leadership to get improvements implemented. Action-oriented
  • You don't just identify problems; you help make the improvement happen.
Why This Role Matters This position will have a direct impact on how efficiently and safely we manufacture our equipment. You'll have the opportunity to see an idea move from "we should do this differently" to actually changing the way the product is built. If you have a strong manufacturing background and enjoy figuring out how to make things work better, we'd like to talk with you. Bazooka Farmstar is an EEO employer.
