full-time Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on MES Engineer to support the deployment, integration, commissioning, and ongoing operation of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) across lithium-ion battery cell, module, and pack production lines. This role connects shop-floor equipment, supervisory control applications, and manufacturing systems to enable reliable data exchange, production execution, and end-to-end traceability. The successful candidate will work closely with manufacturing, process engineering, controls, quality, IT, and MES development teams to support production readiness and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities MES Deployment and Commissioning:

Install, configure, test, and commission MES interfaces and shop-floor applications, including SCADA, HMI, and PC-based equipment software. Validate system functionality against production workflows and process requirements.

Equipment and System Integration:

Develop, configure, and troubleshoot interfaces between MES, equipment applications, PLCs, and enterprise systems. Support the exchange of production orders, process parameters, equipment status, quality results, material tracking, and production counts.

Data Reliability and Traceability:

Monitor data collection and transmission to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely availability. Investigate missing records, communication delays, duplicate transactions, and traceability gaps, and implement corrective actions.

Production Troubleshooting:

Provide on-site technical support during equipment startup, production ramp-up, and routine operations. Diagnose software defects, interface failures, configuration issues, and communication faults to minimize production disruption.

System Enhancement:

Translate manufacturing requirements into system improvements. Support changes to production workflows, data collection, process controls, and reporting as manufacturing processes evolve and production capacity expands.

Testing and Change Implementation:

Participate in requirements reviews, integration testing, user acceptance testing, and production release activities. Coordinate system changes with relevant teams and maintain clear validation and change records.

Documentation and Training:

Prepare interface specifications, commissioning procedures, operating instructions, and troubleshooting guides. Train production and maintenance personnel on system operation and common issue resolution.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner with controls engineers, equipment suppliers, process engineers, quality teams, IT, and MES developers to resolve integration issues and support successful project delivery. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. At least 3 years of experience in MES implementation, manufacturing systems integration, or shop-floor software commissioning in an automated manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience integrating MES with equipment-level applications, SCADA/HMI systems, or PLCs. Proficiency with at least one relevant development language or platform, such as C#/.NET, Siemens Win

CC, AVEVA

InTouch, GE iFIX, or LabVIEW. Working knowledge of MES functions, including production execution, process parameter management, data acquisition, quality tracking, equipment monitoring, and product genealogy. Experience with integration technologies such as

OPC UA/DA, REST

APIs, web services, and database interfaces. Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus TCP, PROFINET, or EtherNet/IP. Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL, including writing SQL queries and troubleshooting manufacturing data. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills. Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing environment and support commissioning activities and production needs. Preferred Qualifications Experience in lithium-ion battery manufacturing, particularly cell assembly, electrolyte filling, formation, grading, module assembly, or pack production. Familiarity with battery manufacturing traceability, process interlocks, recipe management, and quality data requirements. Basic PLC programming and troubleshooting experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation, or Mitsubishi platforms. Experience developing scripts or utilities using C#, Python, or Visual Basic. Experience supporting new factory launches, equipment acceptance testing, production ramp-up, or multi-line MES deployments. Ability to independently manage commissioning assignments and coordinate technical issue resolution with equipment vendors and software suppliers. Work Environment This position requires regular on-site work in a battery manufacturing facility. Occasional travel and flexible working hours may be required to support equipment commissioning, system launches, and scheduled production activities.
