Job Description
Production Engineer Location:
Spring Grove, IL The role of the Manufacturing Engineer is to establish, implement, and sustain methods, processes, and costs to support the company's customers and employee owners. Working closely with department supervisors and other departments, the Manufacturing Engineer operates in an environment that promotes continuous improvement, lean principles, and best practices. This position involves recommending and executing improvements or modifications in the sequence of operations, work instructions, equipment utilization, and other related areas to enhance safety, quality, processes, and costs. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Support manufacturing through structured problem-solving methods during program launches, rework, and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide effective leadership by challenging existing processes, inspiring a shared vision, and transparently modeling best practices. Utilize knowledge of process capabilities and control limits to enhance quality and evaluate incoming work. Identify and document opportunities for continuous improvement to minimize cycle times, scrap, and waste. Create financial justifications for equipment and process changes. Conduct time studies, method analysis, and work measurement activities. Utilize computer simulations to enhance production processes and provide recommendations for improvements. Deliver technical assistance, training, and guidance to employee-owners to ensure work compliance with specifications and safety standards. Meet performance metrics for safety, quality, cost, productivity, and on-time completion of customer orders. Develop, update, and maintain routings, work instructions, and blueprints to meet customer specifications efficiently. Collaborate across all plants and shifts to support projects and production.Qualifications Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering/technology or related field, or equivalent experience Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing and/or metals industry Experience in project management, industrial engineering methods, and manufacturing practices Proficient in SolidWorks or similar CAD/CAM software and Geometrical Tolerance specification Strong communication skills to convey technical information internally and externally Expert mathematical and mechanical skills Extensive experience withMicrosoft Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint Preferred Skills:
5+ years of experience in an Engineering/Technology role in manufacturing and/or metals industry Proven success in improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) Knowledge of quality tools and safety regulations Experience in Value Stream Mapping, Time Standards, Line Balancing, and Plant Floor Layout Training in Lean Manufacturing, Visual Factory, Kanban, Kaizen, and Six-Sigma methods Materials flow management experience Proficiency with ERP or MRP softwareSimilar remote jobs
