Overview We are seeking a full-time Industrial Engineering Intern at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for performing all aspects of Industrial Engineering activities, as it applies to Warehouse and Distribution. The responsibilities for this role will include assisting industrial engineers in developing, coordinating, and improving warehouse processes to support internal and external customers within the distribution center. Projects could include one or many of any of the following Essential Functions. Essential Functions Cleanliness zone area requirements: This position requires Garmin provided personal protective equipment including SD shoes (Static Dissipative Footwear) to be always worn for an entire shift to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and meet specified standards. Design and help implement product flow processes that enhance productivity/accuracy of product movement Provide analysis and input on physical layout design of warehouse for maximum flexibility and productivity Design training for improvement methods used by material handlers regarding lifting/physical movement Analyze, design and improve ergonomics within the warehouse to enhance productivity and reduce fatigue Analyzes work methods and functionality in the warehousing facility to ensure a safe environment Analyze special packaging projects, including tooling and equipment set-up Analyze and provide input on flow of product within the warehouse conveyor system Streamline product movement in warehouse activities that decreases cycle time of material flow Present fact-based findings with recommended improvements in process or design Basic Qualifications Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other related field Proficiency with Microsoft 365/Office Apps (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook, etc.) Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, work well with others and be respectful Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks Must be detail-oriented Strong communication both written and verbal with analytical skills in problem solving Desired Qualifications Outstand academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
