Job Description
Licenses:
Bachelor¿s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program required. Based upon EKPC's business needs, a specific discipline may be determined.Experience:
No experience required.Skills and Abilities:
Developing written and oral communication skills (e.g. reports, emails, presentations). Must develop good interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with other contacts, both inside and outside the Cooperative. Must have the ability to creatively apply technical skills to projects and activities. Must have the ability to think logically, and to understand instructions on specific objectives, complex features and possible solutions. Must have the ability to plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate assigned work activities, with direction. Must have good data analysis and problem solving abilities. Proficient use of Microsoft Office and other common business applications required. Must be capable and willing to learn on-the-job and advance to the next level of engineering responsibility. Must have an understanding of basic chemical nomenclature and fundamentals. Basic understanding of maps, plans, survey information, and flow diagrams is preferred. Prior experience with CADD applications is preferred. Knowledge of coal fired power plant chemical systems preferred. Competencies Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills Contributing to Team Success Decision Making Customer Focus Adaptability Working Conditions Due to 24/7 operational cycle, work outside of normal business hours is required on occasion, with potential to include nights and weekends. Must be medically certified to wear respiratory protection. Must be able to appropriately don a respirator which would include no facial hair at the sealing surface. Must maintain a valid driver¿s license. This position is at the power plant with usual office conditions and engagement with plant personnel. Work in and around operating plant and construction environment where environment demands may include dust, fumes, rough/uneven terrain, variations in temperature, etc. This position often works at heights. Must wear personal protective equipment as appropriate. Regularly lifts up to twenty (20) pounds; occasionally lifts up to fifty (50) pounds. Works under direction of more senior individuals in work group. Willingly accepts range of assignments, subject to checks and verification by more expert team members. Key Responsibilities Assists in development and maintaining maintenance basis strategy for respective system. Under direction, reviews and monitors the Condition Based Maintenance and the Predictive Base Maintenance of their system. Reviews and contributes input to Systems Work Order Backlog. Assists in developing mid and long-term plans for their system. Responsibility to ensure all information and documentation for system is correct, complete, available, and current. System Owner will be part of the Outage Management Team. Under direction, investigates and completes Corrective Action Review documentation. Analyzes test data, operating data, and plant practices. Assists in designing plant improvements in accordance with engineering practices. Assists in the preparation of equipment and construction specifications. Coordinates contractors or staff on smaller scope project-related work; verifies completed work and recommends final acceptance of the project. Monitors project during construction start-up and recommends modifications necessary to support project success. Analyzes, development, and performance of engineered functions of plant betterment activities. Inspects plant modifications, reviews actual work accomplished compared to the plan. Evaluates results of testing program and recommends improvements. Assists in conducting the planning, testing, collecting, and evaluating of data on plant performance. Develops, performance, and evaluation of testing procedures and results from testing on new and existing plant equipment. Analysis, development, and recommendation of computer systems and programs dealing with increasing plant performance. Accumulates, analyzes, and prepares reports concerning industry operations, laws, and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Key Requirements Education and Certifications /Licenses:
