Job Title:
Supplier Quality EngineerJob Description The Supplier Quality Engineer oversees the quality performance of all suppliers, manages the initial inspection of incoming parts and materials, and develops robust processes to ensure consistent supplier quality within an industrial manufacturing environment. This role focuses on electrical components and requires strong problem-solving skills and expertise in quality tools and standards. Responsibilities
+ Manage and oversee the performance and quality of all suppliers to ensure compliance with internal standards and customer requirements.
+ Lead and manage the initial inspection process for all incoming parts and materials to verify conformance to specifications.
+ Create, implement, and continuously improve processes and procedures related to supplier quality management.
+ Apply structured problem-solving methodologies, including the 8 Disciplines of problem solving, to address supplier-related quality issues.
+ Conduct root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why to identify and eliminate underlying causes of defects and nonconformities.
+ Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of quality issues and improve supplier performance.
+ Utilize CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) processes to systematically resolve quality problems and drive continuous improvement.
+ Perform inspection control activities to ensure consistent quality checks on parts and materials received from suppliers.
+ Use 8D reporting and other quality tools to document, communicate, and track the resolution of supplier quality issues.
+ Manage PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) activities with suppliers to validate new or changed components before production.
+ Collaborate with suppliers on quality expectations, standards, and improvement initiatives, particularly for electrical components.
+ Interpret and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) in the evaluation of parts and materials during inspection.
+ Ensure supplier quality processes align with
ISO 9001
requirements and support overall quality management system objectives.
+ Support industrial manufacturing operations by maintaining reliable supply of conforming components and materials.
+ Monitor and report on supplier quality metrics and trends, recommending actions to improve performance and reduce defects. Essential Skills
+ Proven experience in supplier quality engineering or supplier quality management within an industrial manufacturing environment.
+ Hands-on experience managing supplier quality processes, including supplier management and performance oversight.
+ Strong background in quality tools such as CAPA, 5 Why, 8D, and root cause analysis.
+ Experience with inspection control and initial inspection processes for parts and materials.
+ Practical knowledge of
ISO 9001
quality management systems and their application in manufacturing.
+ Experience working with electrical components in a production or supplier quality context.
+ Ability to interpret and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) in inspection and quality evaluations.
+ Proficiency in PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) for validating new or modified supplier components.
+ Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and improve supplier quality processes.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to corrective and preventive actions. Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Preferably holds a degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with exposure to electrical systems or components.
+ Solid understanding of the 8 Disciplines of problem solving and their application in manufacturing environments.
+ Experience applying 5 Why analysis to identify root causes of quality issues. + background in conducting root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective actions.
+ Familiarity with industrial manufacturing operations and related quality requirements.
+ Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
+ Strong communication skills for documenting, presenting, and following up on quality issues and improvement plans. Work Environment This role operates within a manufacturing environment focused on industrial production and the expansion of product lines. The workplace involves regular interaction with production areas, inspection stations, and supplier-related activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bossier City, LA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $52.88/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
