Supplier Quality Engineer#26-00857 Holly, MI
Onsite Job Description Position Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) works with Suppliers in a partnership environment utilizing Continuous Improvement based procedures, tools and methodologies to develop the Supplier in support of corporate and divisional quality objectives. In parallel, the SQE works collectively with the Supplier and cross-functional project teams on new and existing products to review and verify Supplier process capability in alignment with product design requirements and application intent. Formulates and/or assists in formulating quality control policies and procedures and development of quality standards. Assists internal and external contacts to resolve product and process problems. Investigates and solves manufacturing-related problems in assigned area using formal problem-solving tools. Analyzes and develops suppliers' products to obtain maximum productivity and reviews performance in operation and provides suggestions for improvement. Researches, recommends, implements and administers new and/or existing quality assurance processes. May supervise and provide work direction to other staff.
Responsibilities:
Own and Lead Supplier 8D's on all supplier product issues in an urgent and timely manner. Effective and timely communication with Suppliers on issues regarding their Product Quality. Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues Work with the supplier directly, create correction action plans to address process failures Lead implementation of all Containment activities in plant. (Supplier Related) Engage and support Advanced Team as required during new launch transition phase. Support new product launches to ensure that supplier quality meets the required standards Ensure supplier process controls meet reliability and capability levels. Validate and approve Supplier PPAP's in a timely manner. Manage yearly PPAP's for carryover product and maintain PPAP records. Ensure adherence to Policies/Procedures. Responsible to coordinate required incoming inspections. Own / Lead monthly Supplier Performance Reviews on Top poor performing Suppliers with monitoring of corrective action plans. Own / Lead supplier escalations working with purchasing team for resolutions. Conduct Supplier audits as required to ensure accuracy of their internal systems and processes following Client's Supplier Audit process (i.e., modification from Engineering Changes, Corrective Actions or Process Changes). Effectively coordinate and monitor cost recovery for supplier related topics. Develop and obtain Supplier approved boundary/PPAP samples and maintenance of the boundary samples throughout the production cycle. Participate in Continuous Improvement activities for production related to Supplier product. Monitor and drive timely closure of Supplier initiated Engineering Change Requests. Lead effective closure to Supplier complaints through to disposition and financial re-numeration. Participate and Lead root cause analysis as required in Warranty returns, follow up communications with customers and provide analysis of data as required. Manage internal line rejections from root cause analysis through to Supplier complaints closure analyzing trends and driving corrective actions. Drive product improvement based on internal line rejects and returns OEM and Warranty. Drive Quarterly goals to meet objectives. Create & Maintain Performance KPI's. Meet all commitments - confront and elevate issues timely
Requirements:
Understanding of supplier quality development engineering practices, principles, processes, commodity manufacturing / process knowledge, etc.; 3-5 years of relevant experience. Previous experience in automotive industry Must be able to utilize standard measuring equipment and specialized equipment such as gages Strong knowledge in PCB board assembly and fabrication is an asset. Strong understanding of semiconductor devices and their characteristics is an asset. capability to calculate and analyze data, generate reports, present information, etc Demonstrate knowledge of FMEA's, APQP, PPAP, Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) Demonstrated ability to work on long-term assignments, broad in nature. Must be able to work independently with some latitude for unviewed action or decision. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage several large and complex projects simultaneously. Must have experience with past projects. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others through support, training, etc. Demonstrated ability to thoroughly research, recommend, and oversee implementation of new products, materials, processes, etc. and present information. Minimal travel occasionally required (10-20%). Experience in a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment, with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities. Proven experience working with cross functional teams to complete daily tasks and projects. Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other employees. Knowledge/experience of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) Strong problem-solving skills to identify and troubleshoot issues that may arise.
