Job Description

Supplier Quality Engineer wanted in Novi, Michigan to implement commodity-specific business plans to ensure suppliers exceed Ford's expectations for launch readiness, quality, capacity, warranty, and on time delivery; lead cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and supplier leadership to resolve open issues and drive continuous improvement; serve as the principal on-site technical lead for troubleshooting, emergency containment, and corrective action implementation during critical supplier events; ensure zero vehicle losses or production disruptions due to supplier-related issues; monitor and enforce compliance with customer quality and operational standards, including Q1 requirements; drive early manufacturing feasibility assessments at supplier sites to ensure launch and production readiness; conduct Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities for automotive seating components with suppliers, including design record reviews, DVP&R validation, and approval of production submissions to ensure compliance with OEM requirements; conduct onsite supplier process audits, launch readiness assessments, and manufacturing capability reviews using
ISO 9001
2015, IATF 16949, and engineering statistical tools to ensure robust process control and risk mitigation analyze prototype, pre-production, and production failures using structured root cause analysis, initiate containment and certification plans, and track corrective actions through closure using engineering reporting tools and metrics; evaluate supplier performance through KPI tracking, cost of poor quality analysis, chargeback management, and recurring issue resolution; ensure execution of APQP and PPAP deliverables in alignment with program timelines; analyze supplier performance using data-driven metrics to support strategic sourcing decisions and future quality improvements; and participate in supplier development initiatives, helping build long-term capability and alignment with customer operational excellence goals.
