Job Overview As a Production Engineer - Sheet Metal Fabrication, you'll improve the processes, equipment, and workflows that turn designs into quality fabricated parts. You'll partner with production, quality, and engineering teams to troubleshoot issues, strengthen manufacturing performance, and support safe, reliable operations.
Your impact:
By identifying root causes and improving fabrication processes, you'll help production teams deliver consistent parts and keep work moving efficiently. Responsibilities Develop and refine sheet metal fabrication processes, tooling, work instructions, and production layouts. Use engineering data analysis, root cause analysis, and quality improvement programs to resolve production issues and drive continuous improvement. Support project scheduling and project management for manufacturing changes, equipment, and process launches. Apply CAD (computer-aided design) and CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo; interpret schematics and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Collaborate across functions on welding, assembly, CNC (computer numerical control) and CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) programming, robotics, vision inspection systems, and industrial automation as applicable. Requirements Experience practicing in an industrial, manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or process engineering role; factory or assembly line experience is valuable. Knowledge of fabrication, tooling, mechanical systems, engineering troubleshooting, and process improvement. Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, Lean management, Six Sigma, or Six Sigma manufacturing methods; experience leading teams or improvement projects is a plus. Exposure to programmable logic controllers, robot programming, plastics injection molding, or related manufacturing processes is preferred. Quantum engineering is not typically relevant to sheet metal fabrication; experience in applicable production engineering is preferred.
