Job Description

About the
Opportunity:
Our client, an established manufacturer in Central New Hampshire, is seeking a hands-on Working Production Manager to oversee daily manufacturing operations, improve equipment reliability, and lead a small production team, including a quality assurance representative and shipper. This is an opportunity for a mechanically skilled manufacturing professional who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and leading from the production floor. This is not a desk job. The ideal candidate is a working leader who can manage production, troubleshoot equipment, and actively support the team to ensure operational success. Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours may be needed to address equipment breakdowns and other urgent production issues. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily production operations, ensuring schedules, quality standards, and customer delivery commitments are met. Set daily priorities between production and equipment repair when demands compete. Lead, train, and develop production employees, while maintaining a hands-on presence on the manufacturing floor. Perform equipment setup, troubleshooting, adjustments, and repairs involving mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems. Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement solutions to minimize downtime. Manage preventive maintenance activities to improve machine reliability and production efficiency. Identify opportunities to increase throughput, reduce scrap, improve workflow, and optimize manufacturing performance. Develop a working knowledge of specialized and older manufacturing equipment, including machinery with limited documentation. Monitor production metrics, including output, downtime, scrap, safety, and on-time delivery. Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and leadership on equipment upgrades, material availability, and operational improvements. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Qualifications 5+ years of manufacturing experience with strong hands-on mechanical expertise. Background in production supervision, industrial maintenance, machine setup, machining, or related manufacturing operations. Proven ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial manufacturing equipment. Working knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems. Experience with high-speed automated machinery, metalworking, stamping, or forming equipment is a plus. Ability to lead employees, prioritize production demands, and resolve equipment issues under pressure. Comfortable working with production tracking systems and ERP software. Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to work alongside the team. No college degree required. Practical experience and technical ability are the priorities. Why Consider This Opportunity? Join an established manufacturer with a strong history and reputation. Take ownership of daily production operations and directly influence facility performance. Play a key role in improving equipment reliability, manufacturing efficiency, and operational processes. Small team, short decision chain — your fixes show up on the floor the same week. Enjoy a hands-on leadership opportunity where your technical expertise and contributions make a measurable difference. Compensation $75,000-$85,000 base, depending on experience, plus benefits. #
