Process Engineer

Process Engineer General Description Responsible for evaluating existing processes and configuring manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process. Also responsible for new process development including process design, operation, and implementation. Specific Duties Follow all applicable environmental, health and safety rules and procedures and immediately report all dangerous situations, near-misses, and injuries. Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of the production process. Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers. Oversee that process documentation, including work instructions and acceptance criteria, is created and up to date. Lead problem solving activities, conduct root cause analysis, and develop corrective action plans. Implement lean manufacturing techniques - SMED, single piece flow, 5S. Ensure projects are completed on time. Work with in-house product design teams to optimize the design for manufacturability. Work with equipment designers, in-house engineering, and manufacturing staff to develop a cost-effective and working production process. Collect, record, and transcribe data. Show results in reports. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice. Qualifications Proven work experience in process engineering and/or manufacturing engineering. Excellent technical skills. Experience in manufacturing is required. Working knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo. Be able to think analytically and have interpersonal skills. BS degree in Engineering preferred, but not required. Must be able to work in an un-airconditioned environment for a minimum of 8 hours per day. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, for viewing a computer terminal distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception vision for driving and ability to adjust focus.
