Production Engineer -
Oil & Gas Location:
Hobbs, NM Pay:
$140k - $185K a year DOE Position Overview The Production Engineer is responsible for driving production performance and economic returns across operated oil and gas assets. This role focuses on optimizing well performance, supporting development activities, and managing assets through data-driven decision-making. The position works closely with reservoir, geology, operations, and facilities teams to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable operations. Key Responsibilities Evaluate producing wells and assets to identify optimization opportunities and improve overall profitability Maximize production from new and existing wells through artificial lift design, optimization, and troubleshooting Partner with Reservoir Engineers and Geologists to enhance asset value and support development strategies Track daily production data to identify variances, trends, and optimization opportunities Support asset teams with project planning, AFE preparation, and execution for operated wells Collaborate with Facilities and Operations teams on production facility design and well tie-in readiness Provide technical guidance to field personnel on completion and production operations Ensure infrastructure and facilities are prepared for timely well connections to maximize revenue Develop economic evaluations, written procedures, and project justifications for optimization and intervention work Lead and support engineering studies, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives Monitor offset operator activity and well performance to maintain competitive positioning Assist with LOE and WOE budgeting and cost analysis Provide on-call technical support as required, including nights and weekends Mentor junior engineering staff and support team development Uphold safety, regulatory compliance, and ethical standards in all work activities Software & Technical Tools Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel-based analysis Experience using industry software such as Wellview, Aries, OFM, Spotfire, and related production engineering tools Technical Knowledge & Skills Strong understanding of production operations, artificial lift systems, and surface facilities Experience with multiple artificial lift methods and production optimization techniques Knowledge of operational KPIs, efficiency metrics, and asset performance tracking Working knowledge of reservoir and completion engineering principles Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (Petroleum Engineering preferred) Minimum of 2+ years of relevant production engineering experiencePay:
