Industrial Engineer Job Description This Industrial Engineer role focuses on improving production processes, enhancing manufacturing efficiency, and elevating product quality within a manufacturing environment. You will support and lead projects that drive continuous improvement, develop and maintain production standards, and provide data-driven insights that help secure new business and optimize operations. Responsibilities Assist with or lead projects and initiatives that improve production processes, manufacturing efficiencies, and product quality. Prepare new product cost estimates to support the acquisition of new business opportunities. Prepare capital expenditure proposals (CEPs) to enhance production processes and improve service to customers. Create, update, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings for all production items. Prepare and coordinate experimental work orders (EWOs) to test new materials and processes. Compile and issue monthly production standards, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Machine Efficiency Indicators (MEIs) reports. Develop, document, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Method Sheets, and One Point Lessons. Conduct training sessions with personnel to ensure understanding and adherence to SOPs, Method Sheets, and One Point Lessons. Investigate process and machine efficiency trends to identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement. Develop and lead World Class Operations (WCO) and continuous improvement projects to achieve operational improvement objectives. Conduct ergonomic studies and time studies to support productivity, safety, and process optimization. Support safety projects and initiatives to promote a safe and efficient work environment. Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall operational goals. Essential Skills Experience in Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Industrial engineering experience within a manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience with continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives. Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies and tools. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices. Experience with statistical process control (SPC). Advanced proficiency in Microsoft programs, especially Excel and Access. Ability to create and manage data-driven reports such as KPIs and efficiency indicators. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to conduct ergonomic and time studies. Ability to prepare cost estimates and capital expenditure proposals. Additional Skills & Qualifications Degree in Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Experience working with World Class Operations (WCO) or similar operational excellence frameworks. Working knowledge of creating queries and Visual Basic macros. Experience with Oracle or similar enterprise systems. Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience (preferred). Experience preparing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Method Sheets, and One Point Lessons. Experience coordinating experimental work orders (EWOs) for new materials or processes. Familiarity with machine efficiency indicators and production standards reporting. Work Environment The role is based in a combined manufacturing and office environment. The position involves approximately 40% sitting, 20% standing, and 40% walking, with occasional twisting, stooping or bending, squatting or kneeling, and reaching above, at, or below shoulder level. The role requires lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally up to 25 pounds. In the manufacturing area, employees must wear required safety equipment, including hair or beard nets, safety glasses, ear plugs, and steel toe shoes. The environment supports collaboration between office-based analytical work and hands-on interaction with production processes and equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Fulton, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
