Process Engineer Job Description This Process Engineer position focuses on applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products. You will work closely with a cross‑functional team that includes hourly production team members, supervisors, engineers, and the quality department to ensure robust processes, strong quality systems, and effective documentation across assigned areas. Responsibilities Maintain core quality systems by enforcing Quality Operating Systems (QOS) and Failure Mode Avoidance standards across assigned manufacturing areas. Update, manage, and improve key process documents, including Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs) and controls for special and critical characteristics. Ensure documentation compliance by maintaining accurate records and adhering to corporate procedures and standards. Support measurement system integrity by conducting gage surveys and maintaining related quality documentation. Lead monthly process reviews to evaluate process changes, identify issues, and define required corrective and preventive actions. Collaborate cross‑functionally with other departments and Process Engineers to develop, implement, and track process improvement plans. Analyze manufacturing and quality data to identify trends, drive continuous improvement, and support decision‑making. Communicate effectively with production teams and leadership to explain process changes, quality expectations, and improvement initiatives. Review control plans and related documents to ensure they reflect current processes, risks, and controls. Read and interpret engineering specifications and drawings to align manufacturing processes with product requirements. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing or quality-focused roles. Experience with continuous improvement activities in a production environment. Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization, from production personnel to leadership. Proficiency with Microsoft Applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, for data analysis and reporting. Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and drawings. Bachelor's degree in engineering. Hands-on experience with process improvement in manufacturing processes. Knowledge of quality assurance standards and practices. Experience with process documentation review and maintenance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in the automotive industry. Experience reviewing and maintaining control plans. Experience creating, updating, and analyzing PFMEAs. Familiarity with Failure Mode Avoidance methodologies. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications beyond Excel (such as Word and PowerPoint) for documentation and presentations. Work Environment The role is based in a very fast-paced, high-volume production environment within an engine manufacturing plant. You will spend a significant portion of your time at a desk analyzing data, reviewing control plans, and updating process documentation, while also regularly engaging on the production floor to observe processes, gather data, and communicate with production team members. The environment involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams and frequent interaction with both hourly and salaried staff. The facility operates with a strong focus on quality, continuous improvement, and responsiveness to changing production demands, particularly as demand for traditional engine products increases. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Brook Park, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.52 - $33.52/hr.
