ProAmpac is seeking an Innovation Engineer to drive new flexible packaging solutions for food, healthcare, consumer, and industrial markets. In this role, you will design, test, and scale advanced film, pouch, and bag structures that enhance performance and sustainability. Partner closely with manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams to translate customer needs into manufacturable products, lead plant trials, troubleshoot issues, and support continuous improvement. You'll work in a collaborative, safety-first environment with strong opportunities for technical growth and global impact. Responsibilities Lead development and optimization of innovative flexible packaging solutions for food, consumer, healthcare, and industrial customers Design, test, and validate new materials, structures, and processes to improve performance, cost, and sustainability Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, sales, and customers to translate requirements into manufacturable packaging designs Support scale-up from lab to production, including trials, root-cause analysis, and process improvements Use data analysis and testing methods to evaluate barrier properties, seal strength, durability, and regulatory compliance Document technical findings, specifications, and project status; present recommendations to stakeholders Contribute to continuous improvement, safety, and quality programs across the plant Monitor industry trends, materials, and technologies to identify innovation opportunities Required Skills Flexible packaging design Polymer and material science Manufacturing process engineering (extrusion, lamination, converting) Product testing and validation Data analysis and statistical tools CAD or packaging design software Project management Root-cause analysis/continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma) Regulatory and food packaging standards knowledge Technical documentation and presentation
