You will study existing operations, identify practical improvements, test proposed changes, and measure whether they deliver the expected result. This is an individual contributor position. Production supervisors remain responsible for daily staffing, output, and employee performance. What you'll do Conduct time studies, process observations, line-balancing reviews, and capacity analyses. Develop standard work, process maps, staffing models, and equipment-utilization reports. Analyze throughput, downtime, changeover time, scrap, labor hours, and work-in-process inventory. Improve production-line layouts, workstation design, material presentation, and movement between departments. Work with operators and supervisors to test changes before implementing them at full scale. Support new-product introductions by estimating labor, equipment, space, and process requirements. Prepare cost, capacity, and return-on-investment analyses for proposed equipment or automation. Coordinate small improvement projects involving engineering, maintenance, quality, safety, production, and vendors. Confirm that process changes do not create new safety, ergonomic, quality, or maintenance problems. Document final methods and provide training materials to the employees who will use them. What we're looking for Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field. At least two years of experience in manufacturing, distribution, process improvement, or industrial engineering. Experience using operational data to identify constraints and evaluate process changes. Strong Excel skills and familiarity with visualization or analysis tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Minitab, or comparable software. Ability to create clear process maps, layouts, standard-work documents, and project updates. Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, root-cause analysis, and structured problem-solving. Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, technical teams, vendors, and management. Experience with AutoCAD, simulation software, automated packaging equipment, or Six Sigma methods is helpful but not required. Professional engineering licensure is not required. Schedule and plant access Most work takes place during the first shift, when engineering and support teams are present. The engineer may occasionally observe a second- or third-shift process when the same equipment operates differently outside normal hours. Off-shift observations are scheduled in advance whenever possible. If substantial evening or early-morning work is required, the employee and manager adjust the remainder of that week's schedule. What success looks like During your first 90 days, you will learn the plant's major production flows, complete a documented process study, and support an improvement project already in progress. Within your first year, success means delivering measurable improvements in throughput, changeover time, material movement, labor planning, or scrap while maintaining safety and product-quality requirements. Compensation and benefits Pay and incentives: Base salary of $92,000-$110,000 and an annual performance bonus targeted at 7%.
Health and financial protection:
Medical, dental, and vision plans; HSA and FSA options; company-paid life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage.
Retirement:
401(k) plan with a company match of up to 5%, vested immediately.
Time away:
18 days of paid time off, 10 company holidays, five sick days, and paid parental leave.
Professional development:
Up to $3,000 annually for technical courses, certifications, conferences, and professional memberships.
Work support:
Company laptop, required protective equipment, safety-footwear reimbursement, and fully covered business travel. How we work Process improvements are developed with the employees who perform the work. Engineers are expected to observe the actual process, ask questions, test assumptions, and explain how a proposed change affects safety, quality, workload, and output. A faster line is not considered an improvement if it creates unsafe motion, unreliable quality, unplanned maintenance, or unreasonable work intensity. Results are measured after implementation, and unsuccessful changes are revised or reversed. Hiring process A 30-minute introductory call with an Engineering Recruiter to discuss your experience, compensation expectations, on-site schedule, availability, and interest in the role. A 60-minute interview and plant tour with the Process Excellence Manager and a Production Supervisor. A 45-minute live process-improvement discussion using a simplified packaging-line scenario. You will review basic operating data, identify questions, and explain how you would investigate the problem; no take-home assignment is required. A 45-minute conversation with representatives from Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Safety about collaboration and implementation. Final reference and employment checks, followed by a conditional written offer. Any legally permitted background screening or substance testing is completed according to the conditions stated in the offer.
Pay:
$92,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
