Job Title:
Industrial Engineer Job Description The Industrial Engineer supports manufacturing operations by applying industrial engineering and lean manufacturing principles to improve productivity, optimize labor and machine utilization, and reduce costs. This role focuses on developing and maintaining work standards, conducting time studies and capacity analyses, and driving continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. The position collaborates closely with manufacturing, quality, and continuous improvement teams to enhance overall operational performance. Responsibilities Develop and maintain accurate work standards for direct labor and machine cycle times to support effective production planning and performance measurement. Perform detailed time studies, line balancing, and capacity analyses to improve production efficiency and throughput. Analyze workflows, plant layout, bottlenecks, and downtime to identify constraints and implement solutions that improve overall line performance. Conduct work sampling studies for indirect labor to optimize labor utilization and reduce operational costs. Support and lead continuous improvement and cost‑reduction initiatives using lean manufacturing and industrial engineering tools such as cycle time analysis, line balancing, and kaizen activities. Compile, analyze, and present data, findings, and recommendations for project and team reviews in a clear and actionable format. Perform engineering analysis, data collection, and testing in both office and manufacturing environments to validate process changes and improvements. Ensure all work, documentation, and process changes comply with IATF and ISO standards as well as customer requirements. Increase scope of responsibility and level of independence over time as experience and proficiency grow. Collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, and continuous improvement teams to align engineering solutions with operational and business objectives. Essential Skills Proven experience in industrial engineering within a manufacturing environment. Strong background in manufacturing engineering and process improvement methodologies. Hands-on experience conducting time studies and establishing work standards. Proficiency in line balancing and capacity analysis to support production planning and efficiency. Ability to analyze workflows, layouts, bottlenecks, and downtime to improve line performance. Experience with lean manufacturing principles and tools, including kaizen and continuous improvement practices. Ability to compile, analyze, and present quantitative data and findings to technical and non-technical audiences. Capability to perform engineering analysis, data collection, and testing in both office and factory settings. Knowledge of IATF and ISO standards and the ability to ensure compliance in engineering work. Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on reducing costs and improving productivity. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with QAD or similar manufacturing or ERP systems. Experience working with cycle times, tooling considerations, and line balancing in a production environment. Exposure to structured continuous improvement programs, including kaizen events. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, quality, and continuous improvement. Strong communication skills to explain engineering concepts and improvement recommendations clearly. Willingness to take on increasing responsibility and work with growing independence as experience develops. Work Environment This is an onsite role in a manufacturing environment that combines office-based analysis with frequent time on the production floor. The Industrial Engineer works closely with production, quality, and continuous improvement teams, performing data collection, observations, and testing directly on the shop floor. The environment involves working around production equipment and machinery while using standard office and engineering tools for analysis and reporting. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of North Baltimore, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $103000.00/yr.
