About the role:
The Industrial Software Engineer designs, develops, and maintains software systems that interface with physical equipment, sensors, and control systems in an industrial environment. This role emphasizes real-time performance, reliability, safety, and integration with hardware systems, such as embedded controllers, in industrial environments.
What you will do:
Software development Coordinate with electrical engineers on CAN bus signals and timing constraints Work with mechanical engineers to understand limits and failure modes, align with controls/energy engineers on algorithms and tuning parameters Design and release of software in line with the project plan Sync with manufacturing on diagnostics and serviceability Testing and verification: validate CAN messages, verify sensors, and run fault injection tests on control software Integration and commissioning; proving full system function and works as intended in reality Documenting processes and working with the compliance team Project support and process participation
When & Where:
Hybrid Work Schedule in the office 3 days a week
Combination of:
Office, manufacturing floor, and field-testing environments May involve: Exposure to industrial equipment, PPE requirements, and Occasional travel (customer sites, testing facilities) Qualifications What you need to have: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field 7+ years' relevant experience in embedded systems or industrial software development Experience producing original source code for new products Working knowledge of common embedded programming languages (Python, C++, etc.) Developing control software for autonomous or semi-autonomous machinery Knows how to use basic electrical instruments like a multimeter, oscilloscope, CANalyzer, etc. Able to read & create electrical schematics, and troubleshoot electrical circuits Understanding of 3D CAD systems, and able to learn basic manipulation/viewing Hardware-software integration What would be nice to have: Systems Engineering (Electrical) design and release experience Data acquisition and telemetry systems Knowledge of safety standards such as UL 558 and 583 Working knowledge of electric motor and controller design concepts Building diagnostics tools for field service technicians Building diagnostics tools for field service technicians / Integrating telematics systems into industrial vehicles What we offer: Medical, dental, and vision benefits Paid Vacation, Sick Time, and Paid Holidays Profit Sharing Opportunities Flexible Spending and HSA Accounts 401 (k) with automatic company contribution and company match Short-term and long-term disability insurance Life, Dependent Life, and AD&D Insurance Paid Parental Leave (Includes 6-8 weeks of maternity leave and 5 days of paternity leave) Employee Assistance Program Employee Discounts On-site fitness center (Houston & Marengo) On-the-job training and development To be considered for this role, all applicants must submit a full and complete application through our careers page.
