Actalent is currently hiring a Packaging Engineer! Job Description A leading manufacturer of heavy-duty truck accessories is seeking an experienced Packaging Engineer to support the launch and ramp-up of a new manufacturing facility in Texas. This individual will play a critical role in designing, optimizing, and implementing packaging solutions for both inbound components and finished goods as operations transition from Shiner to the new location. This is a project-based contract opportunity focused on developing dunnage systems, packaging racks, and returnable packaging solutions that improve product protection, logistics efficiency, and operational performance. Responsibilities Design and optimize dunnage, racks, and packaging solutions for sheet metal components and bumper assemblies. Develop packaging systems that protect products during transportation while maximizing space utilization and efficiency. Evaluate existing packaging methods and recommend improvements for cost, quality, and sustainability. Support the transition of manufacturing operations from Shiner to the new location by developing packaging standards for new production workflows. Analyze finished goods packaging and recommend alternatives to existing pallet, plastic wrap, and expendable packaging methods. Research and implement returnable packaging solutions where appropriate. Create detailed packaging designs and documentation using SolidWorks. Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Design teams to ensure packaging solutions meet operational requirements. Conduct packaging trials, testing, and validation activities to ensure product protection and manufacturability. Provide recommendations that improve material flow, handling, storage, and transportation efficiency. Essential Skills Packaging engineering and design expertise. Proficiency with SolidWorks. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Packaging, or related discipline). Minimum of 1+ year of professional Packaging Engineering experience. Experience designing packaging, dunnage, racks, or material handling solutions within a manufacturing environment. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Ability to work independently and quickly contribute in a project-based environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in automotive manufacturing environments. Experience supporting stamping, body shop, sheet metal, or fabricated metal products. Aerospace manufacturing packaging experience. Experience designing or optimizing returnable dunnage and returnable packaging systems. Experience with both returnable and expendable packaging solutions. Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or IATF manufacturing environments. Experience supporting facility launches, expansions, or manufacturing transfers. Work Environment The role offers a hybrid schedule with a preference for approximately 50% onsite presence. Onsite work will initially be based in Shiner, TX to support current operations, transitioning to the new location in Seguin, Texas as the new facility becomes operational. This position provides the opportunity to work directly with manufacturing leadership on a high-visibility facility launch project. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Seguin, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
