Packaging Engineer Mac Incorporated - 4.1 Torrance, CA Job Details $123,500 a year 12 hours ago Qualifications New product introduction engineering projects Packaging Managing projects Full Job Description Global consumer-products organization in a hands-on Packaging & Innovation role that supports product development, brand modernization and sustainability. This position spans new product development, packaging engineering and cross-functional commercialization activities. You'll focus heavily on packaging refreshes — label updates, artwork, components and bill-of-materials management — while coordinating with internal manufacturing sites and external contract manufacturers and suppliers. Attention to detail, strong documentation practices and a commitment to presenting a cohesive premium brand image across all packaging are essential. You will help keep specifications, drawings and BOMs current and support projects from concept through pilot, validation and full production. Responsibilities Support company-wide rebranding and packaging modernization initiatives: design, prototype, test and help launch updated packages and products. Recommend innovative designs and materials for primary and secondary packaging to advance performance and sustainability. Track project schedules, tasks and budgets to achieve on-time, on-cost product introductions. Develop and maintain component specifications, BOMs and related documentation across corporate systems. Collaborate with internal manufacturing sites and external contract manufacturers on trials, pilots and initial production runs to validate packaging. Gather samples, supplier quotes and technical specs for packaging components. Contribute to sustainability efforts to improve packaging materials, compliance and recyclability. Execute packaging material testing, complete test protocols and lead plant trials at corporate and contract facilities. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications 4-7+ years of progressive packaging engineering experience. Practical experience in new product development, innovation and product launches within consumer packaged goods, food or dietary supplements. Hands-on knowledge of rigid and flexible plastics, corrugated, paperboard and label materials and their manufacturing processes. Familiarity with packaging sustainability considerations and materials optimization. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
Education Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or equivalent program.
Acceptable:
Bachelor's degree in another engineering discipline with significant packaging experience. Location & Other Hybrid role, This role collaborates with multiple manufacturing and packaging sites and contract partners; occasional travel to partner facilities and labs may be required.
