Job Description We are seeking a Senior Pet Packaging Engineer to join our dynamic team within Pet R D Packaging. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in packaging development, commercialization, and cross-functional project leadership and a proven ability to deliver innovation, drive margin improvement, and support plant system needs while maintaining quality standards .
Responsibilities:
Build strong relationships with business and platform partners to support trials, launches, and key initiatives. Lead cross-functional collaboration to develop margin improvement and technical innovation opportunities. Plan, conduct, and/or manage supplier experiments, trials, and analyses to validate technical packaging opportunities. Build internal and external networks and apply customer understanding to influence and gain support for initiatives. Partner effectively with suppliers and demonstrate a bias for results against key initiatives. Communicate and document technical work, including plans, specifications, experimental reports, financial analyses, and management updates. Leverage material science and packaging technical depth to drive innovation and margin improvements. Collaborate and influence cross-functional and external partners.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Packaging or a related field. 5+ years of package engineering experience. Understanding of product commercialization from packaging design through manufacturing. Applied process engineering experience in consumer packaged goods. Ability to create and generate technical packaging drawings. Experience collaborating at corporate and plant levels with engineering firms, vendors, and contractors. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for face-to-face networking with business teams. Self-directed with sound time management; able to manage multiple projects. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Office 365, Point, and TOPS. Ability to travel up to 10%.
Preferred Skills:
7+ years of packaging development experience. Background in manufacturing, food industry, or related field. Experience with Interspec or similar Product Lifecycle Management systems.
