Job Title:
Quality EngineerJob Description The Quality Engineer will ensure that all customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements are met before parts move into production. This position will lead and manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions for internally manufactured and supplier-provided components. The role involves ensuring suppliers provide complete and accurate PPAP packages, coaching them on gaps and improvement needs. The Quality Engineer will review engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to identify critical characteristics and quality standards. Additionally, they will coordinate measurement activities and verify first article inspection results, collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Supplier Quality to resolve nonconformities. Responsibilities + Plan, coordinate, and execute all activities related to PPAP submissions for new products, engineering changes, and supplier components. + Ensure that all customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements are met before parts move into production. + Lead and manage PPAP submissions for internally manufactured and supplier-provided components. + Ensure suppliers provide complete and accurate PPAP packages and coach them on improvement needs. + Review engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to identify critical characteristics and quality standards. + Coordinate measurement activities and verify first article inspection results. + Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Supplier Quality to resolve nonconformities. Essential Skills + Proficiency in PPAP, Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Engineering Documentation. + Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS). + Familiarity with Control Plans and 8D problem-solving methodology. + Experience planning, coordinating, and executing PPAP submissions. + Oracle proficiency. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology. + At least 3 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment. + Demonstrated experience working independently and adaptability. + Preferred experience in HVAC or automotive sectors (OEMs or Tier 1 or 2 suppliers) but open to candidates from other sectors if strong in PPAP. Work Environment The position is based in a manufacturing facility and involves working with state-of-the-art equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Columbia, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
