Job Description Senior Supplier Quality Engineer- Piping & Welding Summary Vertiv is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer
- Piping & Welding to serve as the technical SME for welding and piping supplier quality across a global supply base.
ASME, AWS, ISO
9001, and Vertiv quality standards , while driving supplier development, manufacturing readiness, and continuous improvement across complex fabrication supply chains. This is a highly field-based role requiring domestic and international travel to support audits, supplier development, and issue resolution. Key Responsibilities Serve as the SME for piping and welding supplier quality across Vertiv's global supplier base. Lead supplier qualification and technical evaluation to ensure compliance withASME, AWS, ISO
9001, and Vertiv requirements . Conduct supplier audits and on-site assessments of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and fabrication capabilities. Review and approve critical supplier documentation, including engineering drawings, MTRs, WPS, PQR, WPQR, PPAPs, weld maps, and NDT reports . Verify material traceability, dimensional accuracy, and non-destructive testing (NDT) compliance. Lead supplier development and quality improvement initiatives to improve process capability, First Pass Yield (FPY), and overall performance . Drive structured problem solving for supplier issues using RCA, 8D, SCAR, CAPA, and related methodologies . Partner with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Supplier Development teams to resolve complex fabrication and welding issues. Monitor supplier performance metrics and communicate trends, risks, and corrective actions to leadership. SupportISO 9001
quality system compliance and continuous improvement across the supply base. Travel domestically and internationally to support audits, supplier development, and issue resolution. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related technical field. 12+ years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or Welding/Fabrication Quality Engineering. Recognized SME-level expertise in piping, welding, and fabricated structural components. Strong knowledge ofASME, AWS, ISO
9001, and fabrication/welding standards . Experience reviewing and approving technical manufacturing and quality documentation (WPS, PQR, WPQR, MTRs, PPAPs, NDT reports). Proven experience conducting supplier audits, qualification, and development activities. Strong background in structured problem solving (8D, RCA, SCAR, CAPA). Experience working with global suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams. Strong communication skills with ability to deliver concise executive-level updates. Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally . Preferred Qualifications AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent welding certification. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or related certification. Experience in global supplier development or fabrication-heavy manufacturing environments. Experience supporting suppliers across North America and Asia. Physical & Work Environment Frequent travel to supplier and manufacturing facilities. Ability to work in industrial manufacturing environments requiring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves.TRAVEL 50
