A Production Engineer combines knowledge of manufacturing technology and engineering sciences with management theory. Designs the production steps, defines and monitors resources needed, and evaluates efficiency of the overall process.
The Musical is looking for an experienced A1 and A2 to join our live production team for our upcoming outdoor musical at Zilker Hillside Theater in Austin, Texas . This is a high-energy, family-friendly musical combining Kung Fu, Cowboy culture, live music, comedy, and Chinese-Western storytelling .

8 performances A1 — Audio Engineer We are looking for an A1 who can confidently manage the live sound system throughout rehearsals and performances.
Responsibilities include:
Run and mix live sound for the production Manage wireless microphones and stage audio Work with the Music Director, Stage Manager, musicians, and performers Execute sound cues during performances Troubleshoot audio issues quickly and professionally Help with sound check, rehearsal, load-in, and strike Maintain a safe and organized audio workspace A2 — Assistant Audio Engineer The A2 will support the A1 and help keep the microphone and backstage audio operation running smoothly.
Responsibilities include:
Manage wireless microphones and batteries Assist with mic changes and performer mic assignments Support sound checks and rehearsals Monitor backstage audio needs Troubleshoot basic microphone/audio issues Assist the A1 during performances Help with load-in, setup, and strike\ Ideal Candidates Previous experience in live theater, musicals, concerts, or events Comfortable working with wireless microphones Reliable, calm, and able to troubleshoot under pressure Strong communication and teamwork skills Comfortable working in an outdoor theater environment Experience with QLab and/or digital audio consoles is a plus Experience as an A1/A2 in musical theater is highly preferred This is a live outdoor production , so flexibility, teamwork, and a positive attitude are especially important.
