Job Description

As a Quality Operation Engineer you will join a leading company renowned for its expertise in designing and manufacturing electrical controls, enclosures, and custom metal fabrications. The Quality Engineer will lead supplier quality, nonconformance management, and customer quality and warranty processes to ensure that internal and external quality issues are quickly identified, contained, investigated, and permanently corrected. This role acts as a technical problem-solver and key communication link between suppliers, production, engineering, and customers, driving root cause elimination and continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle. Responsibilities + Qualify, evaluate, and monitor suppliers to ensure incoming materials and components meet specifications and quality standards. + Collaborate with Purchasing to conduct supplier audits and performance reviews using scorecards that include PPM, on-time delivery, and corrective action responsiveness. + Lead Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs), ensuring root causes are identified, corrective actions are implemented, and effectiveness is verified. + Support incoming inspection processes by defining criteria, sampling plans, and feedback loops to suppliers. + Develop and maintain supplier quality documentation, including inspection standards, first article requirements, and material certification expectations. + Own the Nonconformance Report (NCR) process from initial issue identification through final disposition and closure. + Lead root cause analysis for recurring or critical defects using structured methods such as 5-Why, Fishbone, and 8D. + Coordinate Material Review Board (MRB) meetings with Production, Engineering, and Quality to determine appropriate dispositions. + Track and manage Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to ensure timely and effective resolution of quality issues. + Analyze NCR data and trends to identify systemic issues, process weaknesses, and supplier performance problems. + Provide regular summary reports and improvement recommendations to quality leadership based on data and trend analysis. + Manage customer complaints, returns (RMA), and warranty claims from receipt through root cause analysis and closure. + Serve as the customer quality representative for technical investigations, corrective actions, and communication of results. + Prepare and issue 8D or Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) reports to customers, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and timely response. + Work with Engineering to implement product or design changes required to prevent recurrence of customer and internal issues. + Monitor customer satisfaction metrics and feedback trends to identify and drive quality improvement opportunities. + Partner with Production and Engineering to drive defect prevention and process capability improvements on the manufacturing floor. + Contribute technical analysis to Lean, Kaizen, or cost-of-poor-quality reduction projects. + Collaborate with the QMS Specialist to standardize quality processes and integrate lessons learned into procedures. + Develop data visualizations or dashboards, for example using Power BI or similar tools, to track supplier and product quality metrics. + Maintain detailed records for all NCRs, SCARs, warranty claims, and corrective actions in the quality management system. + Ensure all supplier and customer correspondence related to quality is logged, organized, and traceable within the QMS. + Support management review preparation with relevant data, trends, and updates on improvement activities. + Focus on key performance indicators such as supplier defect rate (PPM), corrective action closure timeliness, internal NCR and CAPA closure rate, recurrence prevention, customer complaint turnaround time, repeat issue rate, warranty cost reduction, customer satisfaction improvement, and the verified effectiveness of corrective actions. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or five years of direct relevant experience in lieu of a degree. + At least two years of quality engineering experience. + Extensive experience with automated test procedures. + Strong experience with Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA). + Experience participating in and contributing to design reviews. + Hands-on experience working within
ISO 9001
quality management systems. + Proven experience managing non-conformance reports (NCR) and related processes. + Demonstrated ability to lead structured root cause analysis using tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone, and 8D. + Experience managing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) from initiation through verification of effectiveness. + Ability to analyze quality data, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable improvement plans. + Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and interacting with suppliers, internal teams, and customers. + Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $43.27/hr.
