Stamping, Fabrication, PackagingPosition OverviewWe are seeking a Packaging Engineer to develop, optimize and validate packaging solutions that protect products, reduce cost, and improve manufacturability and sustainability. The Packaging Engineer will collaborate with design, manufacturing, procurement and quality teams to deliver robust packaging concepts for metal and fabricated components as well as consumer products. The role requires hands-on experience with CAD tools, materials selection, material handling, and production processes including stamping and fabrication. Continuous improvement and cost reduction using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies are essential.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop packaging systems (primary, secondary and tertiary) that protect products, maximize pallet utilization and meet transportation and regulatory requirements.

Create detailed CAD drawings and 3D models of packaging components using SolidWorks, CATIA and ArtiosCAD; iterate designs to meet cost, manufacturability and performance targets.

Work closely with stamping, fabrication and manufacturing engineers to integrate packaging with product geometry and production flow; recommend changes to parts or processes to improve packaging efficiency.

Lead material selection and testing for cushioning, dunnage, corrugate, metal supports and protective coatings; coordinate environmental and drop testing to validate designs.

Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to drive continuous improvement projects, reduce packaging waste, and optimize packing operations.

QualificationsHands-on packaging engineering or related manufacturing experience; experience with metal components, stamping and fabrication strongly preferred.

Proficiency in CAD tools: SolidWorks and/or CATIA plus experience with packaging-specific software such as ArtiosCAD.Strong knowledge of packaging materials, corrugated design, cushioning, dunnage, and protective coatings.

Experience with material handling systems, palletization, and designing custom fixtures for automated handling.

Practical understanding of manufacturing processes, fixture design, and production line integration.

Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies; experience leading continuous improvement projects.

Experience performing packaging validation testing (drop, compression, vibration) and interpreting results to drive design changes.
