$90.95 per hour

As a Mechanical Technician supporting structural testing operations, youll play a critical role in preparing, operating, and maintaining complex hydraulic and mechanical test systems used to evaluate aerospace hardware. Your expertise will directly contribute to ensuring flight hardware performs safely and reliably under demanding conditions before reaching operational use.

What Youll Do

In this highly technical role, you will:

Hydraulic Systems & Test Equipment

Assemble, plumb, operate, and maintain hydraulic power units (HPUs), accumulators, manifolds, and servo/proportional valve systems

Install, align, bleed, troubleshoot, and maintain hydraulic cylinders and actuators

Select, route, secure, and assemble hydraulic hoses and fittings, including NPT, JIC, ORFS, and AN connections

Perform leak checks and corrective maintenance on hydraulic systems

Structural Testing & Test Operations

Set up and operate structural test equipment, including load frames, reaction structures, and test fixtures

Build and install custom fixturing, restraints, and support equipment as required

Configure and execute closed-loop force and displacement-controlled testing

Run proof, hydrostatic, pressure-decay, and structural load tests according to engineering procedures

Monitor loads, displacements, pressures, and hydraulic performance using digital instrumentation and control systems

Instrumentation & Data Collection

Install and support instrumentation including:

Strain gages

Load cells

LVDTs

Pressure and flow transducers

Perform wiring, shunt checks, basic troubleshooting, and instrumentation verification

Utilize test control software and data acquisition systems

Document test setups, procedures, operations, and results using Microsoft Office applications

Mechanical Assembly & Fabrication

Perform tube and line fabrication, including cutting, bending, and flaring

Conduct mechanical assembly, repair, and maintenance activities

Support contamination control, filtration, and fluid cleanliness requirements

Perform basic metal fabrication and hardware modifications

Safety & Material Handling

Operate cranes, forklifts, and lifting equipment to move large test articles safely

Follow strict safety procedures for high-pressure hydraulic systems

Utilize PPE, lockout/tagout (LOTO), barriers, and safety controls

Support operations in high-bay environments, laboratories, and cleanrooms

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Minimum 4 years of experience performing mechanical technician responsibilities

Experience interpreting and working from:

Blueprints

Technical drawings

Schematics

Diagrams

Written instructions

Experience with hydraulic systems and/or structural or mechanical testing of flight or development hardware

Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills

Ability to work independently and within small technical teams

Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds

Ability to work off-shift hours and weekends when required

Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.

Flexibility to support any shift as business needs require

Preferred Qualifications

Active DoD Secret Clearance

Experience with servo-hydraulic structural test systems and controllers

Experience using data acquisition systems and LabVIEW

Experience installing strain gages and supporting calibration activities

Experience working with load, pressure, and test instrumentation systems

Experience supporting cleanroom operations and handling flight hardware

Mechanical repair and metal fabrication experience

Aerospace, aviation, defense, or flight-test environment experience

Pay Details:

$90.95 per hour
