Job Description

at Department of Transportation in Carbondale, Illinois, United States Job Description Essential Functions Serves as a member of a survey crew in the completion of land, route, and design surveys, and providing field control for aerial mapping projects. Assists in the preparation of parcel sketches, legal descriptions, right-of-way ( ROW ) sheets, and court exhibits for review by registered professional Land Surveyors. Assists with the research of property records and the compilation of data necessary to complete assigned survey and plat projects. Performs computations in relation to land surveys and uses current survey technology to establish lines and positions. Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum, OR two years of engineering experience. Conditions of Employment Valid driver’s license. Extensive districtwide travel and some statewide, which may include overnight stays. Occasional overtime during evenings and weekends. Ability to work in confined spaces, climb steep terrain, wade in water, and deal with poisonous plants, animals, insects, rodents, and snakes; and to perform outdoor work in a variety of conditions including, but not limited to hot, cold, wet, windy, muddy, active construction sights, and roadways open to traffic.
