Location:
Cleveland, OH, Atlanta OR Savannah, GA, Philadelphia OR Allentown, PA, Chicago, IL, Baltimore, MD, Tallahassee OR Jacksonville, FL, Modesto, CA
  • Virtual Onsite Hybrid Role Overview We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to conduct system-level investigations for a drone system at commercial operations sites.
This role focuses on improving reliability within drone delivery operations. The successful candidate will be a core member of the engineering team, serving as the first line between operator experiences and design engineering improvements. Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot drone issues observed within operations and implement solutions to return the drone to service.
  • Support new drone delivery sites by provisioning site equipment, programming check flights, and verifying performance.
  • Ensure a high degree of technical reliability within drone operations.
  • Work closely with design engineering and service engineering staff to support continuous improvement in the drone system design.
  • Provide engineering analyses and solutions to improve system reliability and performance.
  • Leverage data-driven insights to identify opportunities and lead the implementation of system improvements.
  • Translate complex system functions into digestible insights and summarize findings effectively with stakeholders. Work Schedule
  • Work schedules may vary, requiring flexibility. Site launches may necessitate working on weekends.
  • The role includes an on-call component for responding to tickets, which may occasionally occur outside of normal hours for high-severity issues.
  • Team members may be asked to cover a weekend once a month on a rotational basis, with the option to take weekdays off in exchange.
  • This position is virtual with a preference for attending the site once a week as able.
Travel to various sites may be required. Required Qualifications
Education:
A BSc/MSc in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or an equivalent field.
Experience:
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
  • Experience in project management.
Skills:
  • Experience scripting in modern programming languages.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time. Preferred Qualifications
  • Aviation or Aerospace experience.
  • Experience with drone systems.
  • Experience working with operations teams to resolve urgent issues.
  • Experience using engineering project management software such as JIRA, Confluence, or other Agile tools.
