Warren, Michigan, United States Talascend is currently seeking a Mechanical Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Warren, Michigan. Overview This role involves performing equipment setup, operation, testing, and process checks within a controlled clean room environment to ensure reliable manufacturing processes in battery cell production. The technician will collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to support continuous improvement and safety initiatives. Responsibilities Perform equipment setup, operation, cleaning, testing, and process checks to ensure consistent functionality.
Work in a clean room environment while wearing appropriate protective equipment.
Utilize Job Instruction Training processes to develop skills within the work group.
Mix chemicals according to specified recipes.
Conduct scheduled equipment maintenance and cleaning.
Observe equipment operation and troubleshoot issues as needed.
Maintain records, analyze data, and report results.
Recommend process revisions and document best practices.
Use data collection to inform process improvements through corrective actions.
Identify and eliminate operational waste using Lean manufacturing tools.
Implement problem solving techniques to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices.
Coordinate findings with engineering staff and support teams.
Properly dispose of materials waste.
Participate in team meetings and Business Plan Deployment activities.
Coordinate testing, building, and preventive maintenance activities.
Vet incoming work requests ensuring resource availability. Qualifications Associate degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical field, or equivalent experience.
2+ years of previous work experience in a lab or testing environment.
Thorough knowledge of complex mechanical, chemical, and electrical concepts.
Working knowledge of computer applications used in lab and manufacturing.
Ability to interpret engineering instructions accurately.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Analytical skills to handle somewhat complex problems.
Interpersonal skills to work effectively in an inclusive, team environment.
Willingness to work any shift, including third shift. Preferred Qualifications Experience with battery manufacturing or lab environments is helpful but not required.
