You work closely with engineering, safety, and manufacturing teams to ensure that tools are built correctly, perform as intended, and comply with all electrical, mechanical, and safety requirements. This position suits a proactive, safety-focused technician who enjoys working directly with equipment, interpreting technical documentation, and collaborating with tool designers and internal stakeholders. Essential Skills 2-8 years of experience in an electro-mechanical or technician role with a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical fundamentals. Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, including blueprints and schematics. Experience working with Bills of Materials (BOMs), including the ability to review and edit BOMs as needed. Understanding of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and experience supporting documentation updates and releases. Proficiency with measurement and test equipment such as multimeters, calipers, oscilloscopes, and related tools. Hands-on troubleshooting skills focused on electrical current, voltage, and outputs in electro-mechanical systems. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when validating tool construction, wiring, and performance. Proactive and safety-minded approach to working with tools and equipment, with a willingness to escalate issues when appropriate. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering, safety, and manufacturing teams. Comfort working directly with equipment and engaging with tool designers to clarify requirements and resolve issues. Responsibilities Verify tool construction against engineering prints and specifications to ensure each build meets design intent and quality standards. Measure and validate tool geometry using appropriate measurement tools to confirm dimensional accuracy. Confirm wiring accuracy and verify that components and part numbers match Bills of Materials (BOMs). Verify electrical characteristics, including voltages, currents, and outputs, using appropriate test methods. Operate voltage and current meters, bench-top power supplies, and power meters to conduct electrical tests and diagnostics. Evaluate overall tool performance and functionality to ensure reliable operation before release. Document qualification and validation results clearly and accurately for traceability and future reference. Execute safety sign-off processes for tools and equipment in alignment with internal safety procedures. Complete safety and compliance checklists and ensure all required information is accurate and up to date. Review safety and validation documentation and obtain necessary approvals and signatures from designated reviewers. Interpret and understand validation and test results to determine whether tools meet performance and safety criteria. Review validation outcomes with internal reviewers, address feedback, and obtain final approvals. Identify and resolve discrepancies between expected and observed results by troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues. Update schematics, manuals, and maintenance documentation to reflect the as-built configuration of tools. Prepare documentation packages for tool release, including all required tags and safety sign-off records. Perform minor drawing updates to keep engineering documentation current and accurate. Release documentation in Agile or similar systems and support Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) as needed. Plan and manage work completion timelines to meet project schedules and shipping commitments. Schedule and lead or participate in meetings related to tool qualification activities and status updates. Identify and request parts required to complete tool qualification and validation activities. Coordinate completion timing with internal teams to support crating, shipping, and deployment of tools. Document work performed and communicate status, risks, and issues clearly with engineering, safety, and manufacturing teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with pneumatics, including basic troubleshooting and validation of pneumatic components. Exposure to PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and the ability to support tools that incorporate PLC-based control systems. Familiarity with vision systems used in automated or semi-automated equipment. 3D modeling or advanced CAD experience to support review and minor updates of mechanical designs. Understanding of manufacturing equipment safety requirements and relevant standards. Previous experience with tooling or high-volume tool qualification environments. Strong documentation skills for updating schematics, manuals, maintenance procedures, and release packages. Effective communication skills to present validation results, safety findings, and project status to internal stakeholders. Organizational skills to plan work, manage timelines, and coordinate activities across multiple tools or projects. Work Environment This role is based in a prototype manufacturing facility that offers a quiet, clean, and organized environment focused on precision and safety. You work closely with engineering, safety, and manufacturing teams while spending significant time on the production floor and in lab or test areas, directly interacting with electro-mechanical tools and equipment. The position involves regular use of test and measurement equipment such as multimeters, calipers, oscilloscopes, bench-top power supplies, and power meters, as well as computer-based tools for documentation, Agile or similar systems for releasing documentation and supporting ECNs, and CAD or 3D modeling software for reviewing designs and performing minor updates. The culture emphasizes safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement, with structured processes for qualification, validation, and safety sign-off.
