Responsibilities & Qualifications Novelis Bay Minette is seeking an Automation Engineer Intern to support automation, controls, and digital manufacturing initiatives at our Bay Minette, Alabama facility. This internship provides hands-on experience with industrial automation systems, process improvement projects, and data-driven manufacturing solutions in an advanced aluminum manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Support automation, controls, and process improvement projects across the Bay Minette facility. Assist with troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, control systems, and related manufacturing technologies. Analyze production and process data to identify trends and improvement opportunities. Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Engineering teams to support project execution. Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities. Document project work and present findings or recommendations to the team. Promote a strong safety culture and comply with site safety and environmental standards.Minimum Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field. Junior, Senior, or recent graduate standing. Strong analytical, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills. Currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to PLCs, HMIs, robotics, controls, instrumentation, or data analytics. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data analysis tools.What We Offer:
