Understanding of lean improvement methodology, ergonomics, time studies for reducing waste and excess, line balancing, 6S, Kaizens, etc. Who are we? Starting as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and eventually assisted in the birth of the aerospace industry in Southern California by providing aircraft aluminum to early aerospace pioneers like Lindbergh, Douglas and Lockheed. Today Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions for customers in the aerospace, defense and industrial markets. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications. Our Performance Center in Carson, CA is the Engineered Products Group site for our Human Machine Interface, Motion Control Device, and Radio Frequency (RF) product lines. Job Summary Support continuous improvement projects utilizing lean and six sigma tools. Support cross functional teams to support RCCA activities on CARs and DMRs. Support the design of manufacturing processes, work instructions and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, and material handling. Support the design, test and validation of tooling and fixtures. Support production operations and personnel on technical issues. Support NPI teams with development of manufacturing processes and procedures for new products. Create and update routing information (cycle times, notes, etc.). Train production personnel on the proper use and execution of tools, processes, and procedures. Conduct process audits and time studies. Communicate with vendors, and suppliers on projects on technical issues as required. Other assignments as required. Required Skills and Qualifications Working knowledge of acrylic machining, painting processes, and assembly tooling. Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret blueprints, manufacturing plans, specifications and purchase orders, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to contribute/participate on cross-functional, problem-solving teams.
