Director of Engineering LeFiell Manufacturing Company was founded in 1930 in California and has become a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of metallic tubular parts and assemblies for the aerospace industry. It is an Employee Stock Ownership (ESOP) company that provides a stimulating environment for long-term growth and financial security for its employee-owners.
Position Purpose:
The Junior manufacturing engineer determines the optimal manufacturing methods and processes for production parts. The engineer will oversee a product from the release stage through to satisfactory production, coordinating the manufacturing processes involved to meet customer requirements. The engineer will provide support for existing production of parts as necessary. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provides engineering support on the manufacturing floor by analyzing production needs, resolving technical issues, and implementing process improvements. Collaborates with MRB team and investigates rejections to provide root cause and corrective actions. Develops manufacturing plans, work instructions, bills of materials (BOMs), and related documentation to support production and ERP/MRP system requirements. Designs, develops, and improves tooling, fixtures and manufacturing aids using CAD software (Inventor preferred).
- Applies knowledge of aerospace metal manufacturing processes, including forging, flow forming, swaging, heat treating, NDT, CNC machining, assembly methods, GD&T, tooling design, material properties, and production equipment capabilities.
- Coordinates lean and continuous improvement initiatives with the operations team.
- Understands aerospace specifications, drawing requirements, quality codes, and standards.
- Participates and leads applied R D projects.
- Exhibits project management and analytical skills.

- Work within a team environment Experience, knowledge and skills: A manufacturing engineering professional with 2-3 yrs of experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge from a metal-based manufacturing environment, preferably metal forming (swaging, flow forming, forging), heat treat, NDT and CNC machining. Must be familiar with machining equipment (conventional and CNC Mills/Lathes). Familiarity with Inventor or equivalent software would be helpful. Candidates will have knowledge of lean manufacturing principles including 6S concepts, PFMEA, SPC, Standard Work, etc.

Schedule:
Salary personnel work 9 hour days Monday - Friday (45-hour work week)
